Building new and maintaining old trails.

Most of us never consider where our trails come from or who was the first to cut them. Even keeping old trails we are travel clear is important. Of course we can't have a bulldozer and tree sevice with us but some simple hand tools and a little time is very rewarding. In the desert mountains...

Lucas oil is in strong containers

The fluids I carry in thin plastic bottles have gotten crushed or just develop pin holes from vibration. I went to Auto-Zone and gave the squeeze test to all the juggs they have.:Wow1: Lucas oil has the thickest bottles for gear lube and oil.

    "Safety" Thimble...yea right

A hook is safer. I will never run a thimble or just an eye with a shackle on a winch line. When a winch is needed it is often needed NOW. A hook can be thrown around a door piller, around a tree or rock in a couple of seconds when a rig is teetering or risks sliding. It can simply be hooked to...

    PLB question

I ride dirt bikes in the desert canyons alone. Yea, I know alone is stupid but I ride more than all my buddys combined so I'm often alone and out of cell phone range because I like to drop down into canyons. I'm on a Rokon 2x2 or trials bike and they are capable enough machines to get me to...

    XJ front end improvement

The XJ is a pita to build right and there is no easy way around it. This is how I did it thru trial and error and am very pleased with how it's working for me in the desert rocky trails. To get my steering tight, resonsive and strong I had to stiffen the unibodies outside frame rail from the...

    Whats my road bike worth?

I have a nice bike collecting dust and was wondering what it's worth. It's Dura Ace 10 speed components with carbon fiber stays and forks. I probably rode it 250 miles but has been moved around a bit and is 7 years old or about the time the Dura Ace 10 speed stuff came out.

My buddy that owns Robilios Off Road Park in Raton NM had me help him slap a budjet boost on his 04 grand last week. The instructions tell you to leave the factory rear coil spring isolators and just add the spacers but the front tells you to remove the factory spacer/Isolator. We were easily...

    Got a Hi-Lift jack story?

I posted this to a different site and thought I'd post it here to see if anybody had a Hi-lift horror story or even good stories of it saving the day. " With the hi-lift exposed to the elements it's considered mandatory to have a WD-40 type lubricant handy. You need that mechanism working...
