Excellent. Get it up to standard then enjoy. If you live in a dry area then ideal, if not. The chassis can rot, bulkheads at bases and near Windows can go, door bottoms are famous for going bad. Try and protect those if you can with waxoil etc

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Monday's fun. Finally swapped the 5-6 year old Hitachi compressor out and fitted the AMK replacement. Actually a straight forward swap and with the software update via my iid tool. It was an easy afternoon. Saved a few quid instead of taking it to a garage to get them to do it. The old one has...

Check the oil lines on that Defender. I've read they go brittle with age and a few have got rather crispy because of oil getting on to that engine. Otherwise, a very good find! It's in much better condition than any 93 I've seen this side of the pond.

LR3 Xenon Replacement bulbs - thoughts & opinions

I changed mine 2 years ago for Osram cool blue intense D2S bulbs. They are fantastic, the originals were 9 years old and terrible. If there is a newer version I would go for the newer model, otherwise I would recommend those bulbs.

https://youtu.be/iwZ2rZDXSB8 Not picture but a video. Lots of heavy rain in the area over the last week or so. So plenty of puddles around, this is actually Loch Lomond that's flooded the road and the hotel etc. I was encouraged at a certain point to make bigger waves by a few men... You may...

    Swing away carrier for LR3/4

Do you have some pictures? I can't weld, I have a friend who is great at welding and is only £10 an hour so it's going to be his job. Once I get the specs and measurements and parts sorted. Did you add bracing or such to your inner bumper?

    Swing away carrier for LR3/4

Looking to add to the car with a swing away carrier. However, it seems that unlike the Defender models, most parts for 3/4 models are a fortune and all the bits are in a cartel style price with each other. Front runner is £1025. Nakatanenga is £845. This is a dual model, it's made from stainless...

    LR3 Headlamp bulb replacement

I always remove the grill before taking the headlight out. Glad I have xenons, put upgraded bulbs in them 2 years ago so will do for a few years yet.

Safe to drive? HDC Fault and more

I would let them do it. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle of dealing with stuff yourself. I would also figure out how the wire got broken in the first place. They should be out the way and safe from contact with wheel and tyres.

Safe to drive? HDC Fault and more

Did they wipe the codes and scan again for what would come back? I personally think it will be fine. Take it easy and I wouldn't go above 60 as a safety barrier.

LR3 A Frame Brush Guard Modification

Did they have to make up custom brackets to allow the winch tray to sit flush with the bar? I'm struggling to see how else they made up the tray to sit in that spot.

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

Do you know your roof mounted spare tyre has grown a person? With a hat. Would get that removed before you go into a car park or low bridge area. Could be messy.

LR3 - off road jack options and techniques

Hi lift jack onto my sliders. Opened the door wide open to stop the jack hitting the car and hooked it onto the tree slider. Took 2 of us to lift the D3 properly but it was rather loaded as it was running support truck for 5 Defender's. Front left blew out on a off road trail with such a bang...

LR3 A Frame Brush Guard Modification

I have the winch A frame on mine, it was 3rd hand. Came with no bolts and upper brackets. The spot light mounting holes were hacked to hell and i can't get the spot lights to sit right just now with the bar due to this. It did have the lower brackets but the 4 bolt hole covers were and still are...

    KGH's LR4 Light Build Thread

The bumper for the 3 and 4 are totally different. So a skid for a 4 won't fit a 3. I have the genuine Mantec winch sump guard for my 3. Cost me £25. I sold my old sump plate for £125 which is what i paid for it 2 years earlier and i had abused the hell out of it. Also have the genuine external...

    LR3 rock crawling carnage

I don't believe the valveing is different, it would be unnecessary costing to make them different. I would need to look into if there are any design changes or benefits to one or the other.

    LR3 rock crawling carnage

The front lower arms on the mk1 RRS are the same as the armoured arms for the D3. They have a different bush design but also the ball joint is 37mm instead of the standard 35mm. The rear upper arms, again have a different bush design. Both fit with no issues. I have done both "upgrades" to my...

    LR3 rock crawling carnage

I threw my old arms away when those bushes were worn. I went for RRS arms as they have a different bush design. I'm still blaming the driver... *ducks and runs away*

    LR3 half shafts

my 2p on the matter. Earlier in the summer, ( July ) i had to change the rear left cv joint as it was clicking when that corner was extended off road. The boot clip had failed and it had let in water etc. I had ordered a cv joint from a parts supplier i trust but they hadn't badged it as a...
