Nice build! Love the utility box with camper. My current build is an ambulance- having the utility boxes everywhere for storage, segregated utility compartemtns, etc is a game changer.
Is that a Hobart welder you're using? Which one, and how were your results? Using their spool gun for AL?
I'm...
Topper/camper are used interchangeably in my lingo.
You're right, I also accidentally listed dimensions for 2x6 not 2x10 (it's an even worse idea with 2x10 - the longer the flat on dimensional lumber, the less compressive stability it will have)
You asked for advice, I'm sorry that you...
How high are you trying to raise the topper?
For instance, with your original idea, is the lumber laying flat at 2" raise (1.5 nominal), or at up on it's side 6" raise (5.5").
I don't think lumber would be a good idea in either of these circumstances, but certainly not up on it's side - it...
$500 to $1,000. The seller could be motivated to let go for a good price given the apparent convenience of this sale.
Any more than a few thousand, and I don't see any reason to buy just the shell when you can get a complete ambulance for just a few thousand more. There is a lot of value in the...
Because the OBS Ford trucks are super cool. Would be more justifiable if it was a PSD though. But it's a ruggedly simple rig, pretty capable and will take a beating.
And because people are starting to realize how much $$$ sprinter vans cost to keep running :)
Kaizen and the Lean method are simple and amazingly effective design, workflow, and management philosophies. It seems to have roots in some ancient foundational knowledge about simplicity, efficiency, and natural evolution itself. Really beautiful stuff when executed properly. Unfortunately so...
I'm sure that salt took a toll. It's a shame that our governemnt so often trashes vehicles with abandon. If this were maintained it would not be rusted out and broken down at 50k miles.
Very nice truck. It's funny though, when an engine can easily get 500k miles, it's logically not worth as much of a premium to get an ultra low mile unit. Still more than enough life left whether it's got 20k or 120k miles.
Still, this is a very clean unit with an ultra solid drivetrain. I...
Second on the height not being a big deal. Of course it's nice to have headroom, but it's real easy to just slouch or tilt your head forward a bit when walking or standing inside. I'm 6'1" and don't mind the 5'10" headroom in my ambulance. My wife is 5'3" and has zero complaints ?
It's in shameful condition, needs a lot. But could be a worthy project for someone if this goes cheap-
