Too much Crawler - the "Enhanced Overlander" experiment
For me, Freeze and Eric Birk hit the nail on the head, and that's exactly the build plan I've employed with my truck. My interpretation of the above list includes a SAC though, mainly for durability and maintenance as well as...
This is true... I've seen a couple trucks with enhanced gas tank skids that have done what you said and it struck me as a pretty cost effective, pragmatic solution.
It's the power plant for sale - not the shelter. Man, that brings back some memories. Forget hearing anything after running it; heat plume like you wouldn't believe; make sure you have a couple 500 gal fuel cons around too.
CB is pretty handy on the highway for traffic hazards and even entertainment listening to the truckers. Law enforcement monitors CB for accidents or troubles on the road. Also, wheelers in groups on the trail find it an affordable communication method.
That is a lot of gear in there but you do have it all situated nicely. I'm afraid I would go into brain lock... or press the wrong button and end up ejecting the passenger. :Wow1:
Top 10 reasons why this truck doesn't sit level
Do you think it doesn't look right?
For all you viewers out there on the World-Wide Web here are the Top 10 reasons why this trucks stance appears a little awkward.
10. I don't have to tub anything to fit 37s in the front...
9. Seriously...
Hmmm, interesting, I have the exact different experience. I had a Bud Built skid and belly pan. My skid and belly pan have bash marks since I put armor there for a reason. My OEM gas tank skid has a couple scratches but no real dents since I make an effort to avoid hits there.

Here are some new pics with just about everything associated with the SAC done. I got to take it for a spin on some local errands and it drives very nice, tracks straight and true, no bump steer to my feeling, brakes feel no different than before; haven't taken it on the highway yet, though...
You and me both! I'm wondering how to get in and out of it while wearing my kilt... just how does a gentleman ingress and egress while maintaining a level of modesty? :o
That could result in a set of "glamour" shots ending in a YouTube video. :yikes:
Yes again. Going to require some stretching exercises to embark; at my age I don't want to fall and break my hip.
"They" say it will settle some; all suspensions normally do and it'll look a little more proportional with 315s on it.
Gomen nasai... :o
I had to borrow a camera for those pics and most of the shop lights were off. I'm running around this weekend with my hair on fire getting caught up on honey-do's and other stuff before I go TDY again so maybe some more pics this next weekend with a few more items buttoned...
Well that's just peachy - NOW you tell me. I've heard of a few reported concerns, too, and it may be a bushing issue - poly vice rubber. We will see...
Pardon the quality but here are a few more shots of it on the ground and one of the steering linkage. The lift arms aren't all the way down and the rear axle is supported by jack stands at a level height. ALCAN says the packs should be ready after the first of the year. I'm pretty anxious...
