Like has already been said by almost everyone, it just depends on what you have available to you. I can't fit my truck in the garage but I can fit it under an overhang before my garage. With that, I installed some eyebolts upon which I string up some pulleys to make a 5:1 system which allows me...
@maust - Are you being paid by someone to constantly talk ******** about JB? More than half of your posts on this site (which are limited) are talking trash about JB. You mounted a tent backward on your truck and it looks like you had some pretty minor problems. Given the shape of the tent and the...
I take the same approach with the poles. I could set it up without but they're already there and it takes maybe 15 additional seconds to drop them down? I only deploy the two on the side. It's super easy to do, makes it more stable, and takes stress off the hinge. I just dont see a reason not to...
Thanks!
Looks like that's their "FS1" https://www.alu-cab.com/product/tilting-fridge-slide/
I was curious if you'd sell them separately but I need a bigger slide than that. Good luck with it!
Well, whatever the case, I hope you get it taken care of. I sure sounds like you're having a bad time of it but it seems like there's lots of people out there loving these tents for a long time as well.
Wow. Well, on the face of it, it seems pretty crappy but, I've got to say, with that tent mounted backward, I do wonder how much that rear lip may move around. Where are the holes? Are they on the back fabric? You said they had informally blessed the installation but, based on the email you have...
Good luck with whatever you choose. If they're in Portugal, I'm not sure how easily any legal or FTC options would be.
Do you have any pictures of the set up as a whole? I'm curious to try and understand why Tom would deny it based on mounting.
Thats a real shame to hear. I think some people may have issues with these tents and, if they do, you hear a lot about it because they're so expensive. I believe the vast majority of them are used problem-free but that's just my two cents.
When I've dealt with @Adventure Ready , they've been...
If the OVS is a "cheap knockoff", then the Gen 1 Darche must have gilded angels descend from on high when you open it.
I have the OVS and it's definitely a quality piece of kit.
Are you talking about the overhang? As in amounts extended past the bars? If so, it'll be fine. All of these tents come from the same place in China and I've had more of them then I'd like to admit over the past few years. They all have had overhang (for me it was more in the front than in the...
I've got their 270 coming in tomorrow. Once I get it up, I'll be sure to post about it. I, like others, found limited information about it but I really liked what I did find.
I would also be interested in what you've got to say. I've owned 6 different tents over the past few years, always eschewing James Baroud because of the price. Now that I've finally come round, I wish I'd just done it from the beginning. No tent I've owned (or seen) has been "perfect" for us...
It could be - They're usually pretty good about it. I'd try sending some emails and maybe trying to get in touch with them on Instagram or something as well. Do what you want to do but I will NEVER deal with another folding tent and those stupid canvas covers. Clamshells or pop-ups for me.
