That and Spring break. We're looking for out-and-back day outings up here - I've checked out UtExped and other trail sites. Interested what you might recommend.

The Franklin Rack This build will have more to do on the interior than the exterior and I'm trying to apply lessons learned from previous builds, one of which for our purposes, is that we don't need a huge roof rack, nor do I want to block the sunroof, ill-placed as it is. This being the...

Interior LED Conversion At nineteen years-old, there are some old oxidized electrical connections that don't, um, connect. Maybe conduct is a better word for it. When I started sorting out the 2.5 the only lamps that worked in the interior were the front door courtesy lights. With everything...

Nice work on your build. Enjoying your thread. It's great to see a Sport get this attention.

I think that's great. Do you have a serger? Another plus to DYI is more exact dimensions to your interior. The Safari Straps are expensive, +$90 if I recall. I had these leftover from a previous build. (Really like your side lighting, too.)

Tough to be scientific about these, but for reference they were taken at 400 ASA at 1/8 of a second at an f8, the closest exposure I could find within a reasonable ASA to what my eye was seeing. Focal length is 21mm on a APS-C sensor.

Thanks. I'm taking a little different approach on this one. Thank you. You can find them here. Thanks. Glad to see you're still on here as well. Both Safari Straps nets are 41"X28". Thanks. I'll shoot and post some this evening. Thank you.

Reverse Light Upgrade The back-up lamps on the 2.5 are more of a suggestion of light than actual practical illumination, so I decided to do quick and inexpensive upgrade. I've had good luck with CREE style LEDs previously, as long as I replaced all the hardware with stainless. I came across...

Interior Mods Part One Most of the build hours so far have been dedicated to the interior, not a bad mid-winter project to do, especially without a garage. Many of the existing interior issues have been solved, from replacing instrumentation cluster lamps to installing LEDs in all the...

Front End My first test drive revealed a squirrelly front end which seemed to stabilize a bit with the 32” rubber. The Monty’s first foray on the road was a trip to SLC, 300 miles, pulling a loaded motorcycle trailer. The power was fine, better than anything I’d experienced with the H3, but it...

Lifter Noise Just a few miles into ownership and right after an oil change, a lifter began clicking, a high ticking sound. I researched about lifter adjustment and became reacquainted with valve lash adjusters, not to be confused with hydraulic lifters. These use oil pressure to lube a tiny...

I've put 1700 miles on the clock and I'm learning a lot about this Monty. I did the standard initial mods according to every other 2.5 build thread on Expo with the deletion of the running boards and flaps (what I'm dubbing as the Cinderella mod), along with mounting 32X11.5R15 ATs all around...

Thanks everyone for the welcome back. During my tear-down I've come across one of the wonders of the universe, and that's how the taillights fill (completely) with water (or blinker fluid). Certainly this Monty isn't the only one to have such a mystery. I recall reading a comment on another...
