Did the counter top up, 1.5" composite HC panel, skinned with .050 #4 brushed aluminum, to be bonded and installed as soon as the corners are tigged up and polished. It was a little fun to bend with a double return on the backside but we figured it out! Nice and light, easy to clean, and strong.
Some more testing
Just did another batch of adhesive testing, and I have found the ultimate adhesive for our extrusions and anything we decide to put into it! Looks like we have a couple options now! Had an application engineer working with me to solve some little issues, nothing major, just...
Back to the build
Got the wiring in for the front, rear, and side clearance lights. I use a nice little double sealed adhesive backed LED from Truck Lite. The extrusions have a built in wire chase, I just have to bond the retention clips in for the harness and it is protected for life. All the...
Which 14 bolt? 9.5" or 10.5"? Big difference in both, but both substantially better than a 10 bolt. 9.5" will come with 6 lug semi floating axles which will match your front.
I was going to originally build it for myself that way Ward. If I could have got 4 people in the cab comfortably it would have been a done deal. I'm trying to convince the new owner to do the right thing!
Off Topic but seriously cool
About a year ago I bought a few super low mileage mint M932A2 5 ton 6x6 trucks, I also bought a couple of new in the crate HEMTT cabs, I love the way a HEMTT looks, and thought with some creative redesign that I could get 4 Recaro air ride buckets across the front...
Tools of the trade
Thanks guys, and yes Victorian I could use you skills a little closer!
I spent the weekend finishing up the "main" cabinet. It's kind of the heart of the systems, so lots to play around with and incorporate as much function and storage as possible. Just a couple pics of the...
We use Oasis compressors and a receiver dryer on shuttle and tour busses that get air ride conversions when the engine is not equipped with a compressor. We have seen pretty much everything else suffer a short life span, especially when setup with auto levelling valves.
Galley cabinet.
Has 5 8" wide drawers 16" deep with full length slides, will get a shelf where the big door opening is and the long slot above it will be for a flip out, something similar to a home set up. Just a good place to keep little stuff. Counter top is 1.5" HC composite panel to keep it...
Le Toilet
Got the wet bath powder coated and glued in tonite, got all of the main cabinet and galley cabinets cut and formed, putting them together tomorrow and fit all that on the weekend so progressing very quick now that we removed any foreign control from the project. There is a ton of...
I had a high end auto business a few years back, specialized in light duty diesels, the current owner is very successful with it. They will live, up here we have environmental challenges that amplify issues, but it basically takes a set of head studs, and an egr delete to get rid of the issues...
Progress
Fired the cabinet maker, didn't want to become one but no choice. Wet bath is cut and formed, did a dry fit, some minor trimming and adjustments, and off to the powder coating shop. It's one bathroom that won't rot….
I thought the size of the bath would really eat up a lot more of the...
The Minwax looks good, I like the little bit of depth it gave, which is hard to achieve with birch. Birch doesn't take stain worth a s%&% which is one of the down sides if you want a darker finish.
