@normal_dave, thanks for the info. Well I found out GMB makes quality waterpumps (they are a Japanese company), they make water pumps for gates, and I read they make tensioners for Mitsubishi, so I'll just stick with the gmb. The tensioner and idler pulley in the dayco kit are made in Korea...

Are you guys talking about failures of the hydraulic tensioner or the belt tensioner? The Dayco timing belt kit for the Gen 3, is that a reputable tensioner?

Anyone have any tips for pulling the passenger side off? I have the bolts out and its twisting, but getting it to pull out at all isnt happening at the moment EDIT: well, all of a sudden it popped out like magic...go figure

Yes, this is the part number I used to fix my 2003 montero... Will it fix your Montero? Idk If you have the issue I did....blinking cdl after 15-20 minutes of continuous driving, then I would think replacing the free wheel clutch solenoid should solve ur problem.

I mightve found the culprit, let me know if this is a strong possibility... I noticed a very small coolant leak coming from the upper radiator hose (where the rad meets the hose), the upper rad hose seemed to be cut to fit and the c-clamp needed tightening. I think the coolant was dripping...

Any chance this noise could be coming from the water pump going bad? im going look into this issue a little deeper tomorrow morning
