Honestly it's getting harder and harder everyday to know who to trust. Even a brand like Turtleback that had a lot of clout in this industry is looking like it's going under. There are still some brands that distribute to RV lots. While I'm not always a fan of RV lot trailers at least you...
Payload and Towing capacity are different. Payload is essentially how much you can put in the truck and truck bed minus full tank of gas. It may be better to take a picture of the door jam. If the GVWR is 8000lbs I'm going to guess payload might be 1800-2200lbs?
I still think AEV still use UTEltd for their official products. They are re-releasing some new Prospector XL Tray Bed trucks and definitely uses the UTE beds. The MITS is probably an upgrade that OK4WD did and not necessarily an AEV product...
I have a hunch they will. If you go onto their page under the "shell" campers they list a slide-in 8' option. My guess is that they will announce all their new models including an 8' Back Country at this years Overland Expo's.

So far the best looking hard sided pop up is the Hiatus Camper. I really like their design and features. They've also cut down their build times dramatically as well.

Interesting, I suppose more details will be sussed out as time goes on and some of the dealers will be able to give more firm and accurate info. I am curious by saying the interior is not DIY'able. So does that mean we won't able to order empty shells and build out the interiors by ourselves...
Personally, I love this idea!!! The market is flooded with a lot of camper companies that seem more like scams and vaporware. i.e. Moby1, Overkill to name a few. There are still a few honestly long running builders out there. With this at least I can purchase a strong base and DIY a camper...
I asked them that as well. They said for certain OEV parts they could build it in. For example, you can order a window that OEV offers and Offgrid would install it for you where you'd like. They can also install a propane cabinet for you or a storage hatch. So essentially they will install...
So I just spoke with Offgrid4x4 (formerly BVO) and they said the shell models are just that, empty shells. There is no buildout other than a door. From what I understood though you can't move the door, it is where it is. It also seems that the Cross Country model is no longer considered a...
To me "unforeseen circumstances" would be something tragic and catastrophic like the factory burned down or the CEO passed away. Obviously something immediate and unexpected. If they're calling "unforeseen circumstances" the recent economy, supply chain, material costs then it's clear they...
The market moves and trends have changed over the past 2-3 years. TBH I questioned their pricing model. $35-$40k for an Expedition 3. A trailer you still sleep in a roof top tent. They released a "basic" tub model called the getaway initially at $8k. Then after a few years the price...
Good to hear some real world feedback. I considered them for a bit but they're just a hair too small. It's at least encouraging that your complaints about them is more about component selection rather than actual construction and QC. I feel like the fridge, solar panel, goal zero, water...
Yes there was a video that they made showing themselves sitting normally (I think the guy was like 6' tall) and they were able to fit under the closed roof comfortably.
Not trying to pile onto OEV but the interior still looks cramped and claustrophobic even with a much bigger platform. The bathroom is just huge and occupies a large amount of space. The pass through between the kitchen and bathroom looks quite narrow and your back will be up against the wall...
Saw one of these at a local show. It’s a great use of space, ability to use and retain the truck bed, has lots of features and sleek design. Personally it wasn’t my thing. I did not like the way you enter the camper. Essentially you have to go up a set of janky accordion style steps that is...
I would rather them offer fully blank shell models. I suspect that based on pricing it's still a "semi-built" shell model like what they've shown with the Cross Country. So while you may add in systems and do some of your own interior I think you'll still be limited in a way with how they...
Ditto. Here is some prelim pricing info. Although it doesn't say what is or isn't included and what amenities are provided in the shell models. I'm sure more info is to come.
