Another shot as we continued down from the highest points.
The trail ended at Poe Paddy State Park. A nice park that we will be coming back to for another stay. No hook-ups, but plenty of sites and next to a nice stream that looks like it could be a nice place for some fishing.
We decided to...
I've been reading trip reports on the forum for a while hoping for some information about places to explore in PA so that we could make it a weekend trip and BESF seemed to be a reoccurring destination. Our first trip to BESF was back in September. I used the excellent report found here on the...
I searched for Jeep Trail Edition Camper. They may be becoming more scarce now. Mine was a 2010 that was stored inside a dealership for over a year unused before they decided to move it instead of store it any longer. The livin lights are still available but minus the Jeep branding and...
We use a tent trailer rebranded by Mopar. If you get lucky they can be found for pretty cheap. It sits stock on 32 tires and factory Jeep Moab wheels. [ATTACH][ATTACH]
It looked a lot narrower than Henstep also. We combined the narrow width and the fact the we got a bit lost on the way and came upon another 15' long mud hole than turned out to be much deeper than it looked and decided to pass this trail this time around. Looking forward to your update.
I'm not sure. I live in PA about 3 hours from BESF and we had some rain prior to our weekend trip but not sure what they had up in that region. When we came up to the trail head we stopped to look at the map thinking we missed negro hollow. My wife looked up and pointed into the woods and said I...
Looking forward to the negro hollow installment. We were camping up in BESF this past weekend and checked out a couple of the trails that you listed here on the forum. Negro Hollow appeared almost impassable from the eastern side entrance. A narrow little 2 track that seemed more water than...
Zimm - already signed up for vermont months ago and attended last year. It's a great time if you haven't been there yet. Maybe I just need to get smaller tires and stop using lockers to see if I really will get stuck. 😄 Hum...
I luckily haven't needed a winch yet but I've also not YET needed a highlift or maxtrax type device. I guess I'm just thinking about being prepared. I've read plenty of stories of explorers crossing the Congo or traveling the world mostly off road who have never included a winch and managed...
I'm looking for thoughts on options other than a winch for recovery. I'm wondering if I should drop the $1200 plus accessory gear and the added front end weight and battery issues or go another route. I realize a highlift will also mean added weight and cost such as accessories and mounting...
If you're looking for best bang for your buck at under $300, I'd do the 2" AEV lift. That still looks good with the stock tires and if later you are looking to add 33's the only thing I would recommend are the Spidertrax wheel spacers.
It's obviously in the eye of the beholder but personally I wouldn't go over 2.5" if you want to run stock tires. Here's mine with a 2.5" before I changed tires.
It is a jeep trail edition camper. These are made by livin light and sold through jeep dealerships. They have a high list price but well worth it if you can find one that has been discounted. I paid less than half of list. I removed the original rear wangler Sahara bumper and replaced it with a...
