Our first taste of the Outback
Day 2 Sunday 26th July – St George to Noccundra (~635 Km).
Following a less than restful night, the morning saw us pack up quickly, enjoy a coffee and cereal before making tracks. We were anxious to put some distance between us and our noisy camp site.
Shortly...
Day 1 Saturday 25th July – Brisbane to St George (560 Km).
Back in early May when the Callide B2 plant outage was in full swing, I was working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week in a town 600 Km away from Martha. Was this really why we came over to Australia? At some point in those long and...
Excellent idea!
Dave,
Great idea, I'm a new "wheelie bin" user since our arrival down under and they are a great product! I hope you sell many of these!
Feels like Christmas in July as we unpackage the aux tank. :wings:
That's it for install pictures because the rest of the time was spent installing the rear bar and tank because we were running very very late into the day thanks to the delivery company...
Rear bar and aux. fuel tank installation.
Managed to find where the camera was hidden...
Rear bar removed, looking a bit bare.
The rear coils and Poly Air Air Bags (more thoughs on these latter).
Out with the old, as you can see the red earth gets everywhere, a good sign this Cruiser has...
A few photos...
Can't seem to find where my install photos decided to go hide but here are a few from the fist "shake down" run after the install.
The 180L aux. tank.
A photo showing some of the rear bar details. Not the best but can't find the camera at the moment...
A shot of...
The latest picture...
Snaped this picture during our recent trip into the Australian Outback and it's quickly becoming my favorite...:sombrero:

A few must do's along the Cabot Trail...
Being from Eastern Canada (New Brunswick) I'm a bit biassed but it's a beautiful place. The Cabot Trail is nothing short of spectacular especially in late September and early October when the fall colors come into their own.
Probably a bit late for...
Opt for a solid spacer/shim.
Cumminscruiser,
I’ve got a few questions because I've never taken a FJ 60 diff apart. When you say a crush sleeve to set pinion location, I'm not sure I follow. Typically shims are used under the main pinion bearing (one closest to the pinion teeth) to set pinion...
Great set up.
Phil,
Been suffering from ExPo withdrawls but I should have more time to look arround now. Have you tried out the new set up? I'm sure you will enjoy it. I noticed a difference in handling with the canopy gone and weight down low. Currious to see how you like it.
From the...
Sticky fingers.
So you did make it over to Oz for a bit. Good to hear you were able to see some of the country. Too bad about the GPS, but it's as good of an excuse as any to upgrade...
Only the top tank (plastic bit) of the radiator was replaced with a new plastic tank. The balance of the radiator is genuine Toyota.
To clarify the o-ring at the junction between the fitting and the pump body was replaced and siliconed. I will be keeping an eye on it.
Pictures will come later...
Storage system/drawer build.
Wow,
I'm very impressed with the build quality. Well done.
You will not regret selecting the Partner Steel stove, I sure am missing mine now...
Back to the vehicle build up...
Easy on the Land Rovers now, this is a Landcruiser forum...:sombrero:
So as with many things in life, the repair/maintenance did not go exactly as planned. The radiator shop found that the radiator top tank (plastic) was very brittle and could eventually fail...
Sharing his passion...
Once we said hi, it was straight to work. We had to pull our eploring device out from the hangar and complete the pre flight checks. For about 30 minutes we went over every aspect of the plane. Len built this plane from scratch over a period of seven years. Len's a...
I know that this is an Overlanding oriented forum but somtimes a new perspective freshens things up a bit...
Over the last 4 months, I've been working away from my Australian home base of Brisbane in a place called Biloela. It's roughly 600 Km North of Brisbane. I've been working at a power...
