Yep, from the progress he was making in the photos he had at our forum, I was really surprised to first see it under a generic price at Craigslist, then on eBay, then at another Craigslist estate sale ad just last weekend. An email to the eBay lister confirmed the worst about the owner's status...
This one? It is another 3/4 ton axle conversion in process, if that's the one you saw, but regrettably the owner, a member of our Chalet forum, died in a car accident a few weeks ago.
Serial #0151 built in 6/76, repainted from the original beige/burnt orange factory colors. The prior owners had done the 3/4 ton axle conversion and regularly used it to tow a big horse trailer.
Every once in a while in my ongoing searches for Blazer Chalets, I run across the open-front versions of Sportsman campers that were purpose-built for Blazers and GMC Jimmys.
In reply to a post in the "Spotted:Expedition Vehicles" thread where the full-sized vehicle was shown, I popped in a photo from this other guy's photo collection. But this thread here begs for one more photo of that person's work....
Plus this other guy's model 4x4 van project:
No doubt...
Well....... what is termed "minor body damage on drivers side" of that Colorado Springs one is not what I'd call minor. Then you have the price of that one relative to other '88 Blazers as seen in this eBay auction tracker site. On top of that, there is a decent chance that you could also find a...
Serial #1460, built in 1/77. Despite the still-functioning ad, the seller tells me it was sold to someone else living in the flagstaff area.
For those unaware of it, I do my best to keep track of all the ones for sale with the Google map I have, but I always welcome sightings of ads for these...
The original Craigslist ad for this one was deleted by the seller, meaning it might be sold, but for the sake of saving it for posterity, here is the reachoo reproduction of the ad with a decent-sized photo. http://www.reachoo.com/ads/133970295
Runs drives, sleeps 2 has a toilet, sink, fresh...
To the best of my knowledge (meaning extracting info from sellers is sometimes equivalent to herding cats), the two free shells-only are still available. The complete vehicle serial #0151 near SLC was sold recently. The #0290 shell-only was sold for what I thought was an astounding $1,408 in mid...
Luv the retro CJ look here, plus the other retro designs you have. Wranglers at least maintained the basic Jeep look for my tastes in their factory form, and I didn't mind the square headlights on 'em a while back. But I prefer the CJ look you've created.
Don't know if you are open to other...
The Dothan one in my post #4 works just fine at the moment. The #1304 Atlanta one's most recent eBay listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/300783178496 (which still partially functions) indicates it was not sold as of Sep 29, 2012. Much like herding cats, it is a bit difficult to get these...
In case anybody is unaware of it............
............ the camper units in Chalets and Casa Grandes are not "slide-in" assemblies, they are firmly bolted down in multiple places.
The #0443 Chalet is again re-listed here http://dothan.craigslist.org/ctd/3736849412.html , but now minus its...
Theoretically speaking, getting a Blazer top mod allows you to plop a camper unit on it that was purpose-built for Blazers, either a Chalet unit (which looks hokey to me) or a 4Wheel or Hallmark camper. I did a Photoshop alteration of a genuine 'burb / Blazer conversion a couple years back:
Talked to the seller a short time ago, it's serial #0896 built in 12/76. Been sitting in one place more or less for 15 years. He admits it was probably repainted despite his ad noting it came from the factory in this color...

I think more than that for the source, and you might have to drop one zero off the miles. Didn't I hear that toy Leaf car was having trouble just getting 40 miles out of a charge on paved highways? More batteries in a bigger vehicle maybe, but with 4x4, lower pressure tires, rough surfaces...
That's actually a gripe of mine how guys post a Craigslist ad link without anything else, causing frustration for folks later on who want to see what was in the ad. So, I've lodged a gripe against myself with a fine of $100 and a week's worth of community service work.
Meanwhile, I did a quick...
That triggered a memory of a photo in one of my old 1977 Petersen magazines, which led me to do a bit of google searching, which led me to a thread where some found a different magazine showing a '78 vintage article about the Low kits. The thread in that link is about a guy rebuilding one of...
Glad to help. Another thing to consider is opportunity cost, one of the only things I ever understood from my economics classes. Could be that a better priced / better condition one may come along later, but the cost is lost time, and who knows what lost benefits from not buying this one now.
