Built in Radio GPS for Navigation Use?

Okay, I've failed, but I did learn a few things. The way my head unit is mounted, I cannot normally access the COM port, which is used for NMEA output. Apparently the head unit does not send any of the GPS/TNC/APRS data back to the RF deck, it's all handled internally. This means it would be a...

Built in Radio GPS for Navigation Use?

What OS/navigation software are you planning to run on the tablet? I have a D710GA in my truck and have been planning to experiment with this anyway, if it stops raining I will go out and connect my laptop to the data port and experiment with the NMEA output and see what I can come up with. As...

    Gen 2,3 & 4 Ram 2500 4wd question

The 2016 still offers a manual transfer case, Power Wagon has one standard in all trims, but I learned the other day that the regular 2500 Tradesman trim also includes the Borg Warner with the floor shifter (at least in the Cummins). Salesmen told me it was a function of trim, which didn't make...

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

Having never owned a diesel vehicle, I was put off by so many comments about the complexity of the modern diesel engines. The 6.4L Hemi fulfilled all of my requirements, and the fuel efficiency really isn't that bad, but that wasn't a huge factor for me. I'm certainly still jealous of the diesel...

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

I went with the Wagon, and have no regrets. Like you said, a cap/rack and you're pretty much done, no worries about lift problems, gearing, rubbing... You've got lockers, winch, lift, good articulation, and decent tires right out of the box, all under warranty and designed to work perfectly...

Options for Hidden Winch on 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Unfortunately I don't have any helpful input, just wanted to share this: Source: http://www.fourwheeler.com/project-vehicles/129-0903-2008-chevy-2500-hd-crew-cab/photo-03.html I don't know what the heck is going on there, but I love it! That RC 1500 setup looks really good too, hopefully you...

Need Locker for 2009-2015 series Ram 1500

Seems like a good way to break your truck, no? Are IFS lockers common? I think I'd go LSD up front and locker in the rear like the Raptor.

    Ram Rebel first drive

I know all of that, I bought one :-). But they start in the mid to high forties, not necessarily $10k more.

Power wagon or 2500 for a light slide in camper

Ha, our trucks are twins, actually I'm jealous of your cab lights. I have also been planning an ARE, looking at the Z series, and the Overland (for obvious reasons :)). What model did you order, and if you don't mind sharing... how much? I got a quote for the ARE Overland from a local dealer...

Power wagon or 2500 for a light slide in camper

No, I have not. It is currently loaded to the bed rails with the remains of some trees that I cut down, the wood is wet and heavy, but I have no idea how much it weighs, if I had to guess; maybe 750-1000lbs? It's squatting just a little bit, but I haven't driven it yet. I'll be driving it loaded...

Power wagon or 2500 for a light slide in camper

For what it's worth, I've been driving my 15' 6.4 PW for about two months now, it has around 3500 miles on it. My overall average is 14.3MPG which includes a daily 60 mile commute (RT) but most of that is usually spent in traffic. It has not seen a real road trip yet, but with MDS on relatively...

    NEW 2015 3/4t 4x4 pickup CHOICES/features/value/reviews/experiences/etc.

My PW came with a card that specifically says "The use of a truck camper is not recommended with this vehicle." Not sure whether that's unique to the PW, or all 2500s. [edit] Ah, nevermind, all 2500s... "EXCLUSIONS: The following Ram Truck models are NOT recommended for slide-in camper...

    NEW 2015 3/4t 4x4 pickup CHOICES/features/value/reviews/experiences/etc.

I just purchased a 2015 Power Wagon last week, so I thought I'd offer to answer any questions you might have about it. I don't have any experience with 3/4T trucks, and I really didn't shop around because I didn't see a direct competitor, so I can't really offer any input on the decision making...

    2 Door JK - RTT

I took the wife on her first camping trip last week, and she's now convinced that we need to get a roof rack, and RTT to accompany it. That worked out much better than I could have ever imagined! So, I'm in the market for both, (for a 2 Door JK) and looking for suggestions. I'm pretty well set...

Mounting a winch with stock front bumper?

Oh I didn't even see you'd mentioned this setup or I would have quoted you. I think I used this guide to get me started, but once you dig in you'll figure it all out without instructions. Couple of tips, if you decide to tackle it; 2012+ you'll need to order the vaccuum pump relocation kit from...

Mounting a winch with stock front bumper?

Another option: That's using the winch plate from Harbor Freight ($30) mounted upside down and bolted to the frame horns, with a hole cut in the plastic bumper for the fairlead. I should mention, this setup is not ideal for mud/water... it looks great (imo) 99% of the time, but when the...
