my answer to awning/outside cooking
I use a free standing auto tent, one side is open to back into, great for unloading your gear and cooking. plus you can drive into town and leave your space.
Refrig location
I mounted a 12v outlet in the bed near the tailgate, and cut a hole in the side of my shell and installed an RV hatch outlet to past the 12v wire outside. Also I installed a Bed Rug which is easy on the knees and makes it warmer when you sleep in camper shell, see pics
nice/clean Pop-up
Don't wait, if the price is right=buy, this will fit your F350with no mods. it looks very clean, put the top up and look under the mattrest at the front corners for water stains/leaks.
I don't like the jacks if you plan to remove this camper often, the 4 corner jacks are...
Changing registration to RV
[
I also changed mine to RV, thru AAA and saved $190 per yr, and if I need to get a large item I just hook up my trailer. It does seem ridiculess in Calif when most pick-ups are for personal driving not business. If you go to DMV for this change they make you...
Samr problems
Check out =Bantam T3-C Build by parcours, he's working on the same problems you have. Ask other members who swap out axle & spring if they will sell you the take off spring from M100 or m416. may be cheaper way?? Just FYI=brian
springs??
I think you have a M100 trailer. yes, you do need springs from your pictures. I don't see any wires from the brake back plate, so you may not have electric brakes. Someone on this forum said you can use Suki springs or jeep CJ3?? Yes the bed on this unit is welded to the frame. Your...
sway
Sway is caused mainly by tires. bounce is caused by shocks. short tongue also can cause sway at speeds. Load 20% forward of the axle. Do your springs still have an arc loaded with the tent, Sway also can be unbalanced load. How high is your tent mounted? lets see pics. just take the tent...
a/c top cover
On top of the A/C it is best to place a 9 1/2 x 16" alum plate over the vents, It will fill up with rain water and may sloach inside your camper, plus the extra weight of water on the mount. FYI= brian
Brakes & springs
Keep the electric brakes and add a brake controller to your truck, it will help you stop better on and off road. Why buy springs??? yours look OK from your pics. After you get it blasted, rattle can the springs. good luck on your build=brian
plastic box
Nice idea, however with LP in a small plastic box just the heat may start a fire?? just maybe. looks like you are ready to camp.
have fun=brian
paint/primer/undercoat.
I would drag it around to 2 or3 sand blaster companies and get a price on top to bottom blast. and you can see what you have and what you plan. here in Los Angeles, Calif I paid $300. Great start. here a pic of mine. just FYI
If you can remove the fridge outside the camper, and roll it up-side down, they sometime get a vapor lock in the lines, do this twice and test on LP. It may take 2 Hours for the liquid to drain around inside the pipes. you may save $$,
PS: if you have room inside the camper to do this=better...
