I built a shelf from some stuff I had laying around. Just wire shelving and a bed rail cut down and bolted to my roll bar. It will hold my weight, not that I would pack that much up there, but it is sturdy.
Nope just a crazy redneck, a welder and an old half ton 4X4.
It all depends on what the OP means by " but also capable of going most anywhere once off road". I love my 4Runner for what is good for. I love my Jeep for what it is good for. I tolerate my Ford Fusion because it is good for what...
If spending that much isn't an issue get the Rubicon version, a small lift, larger tires a winch and be done with it. With the 4:1 in the Tcase the gearing won't be an issue of road with the larger tires. There is allot of space and it is comfortable enough.
Thanks for the link
With enough time and effort you can make a Pinto off road capable.
There is nothing wrong with a 4Runner. For traveling I would and I do choose my 4Runner over my Jeep all the time, unless off roading is involved. I just think that a Wrangler (or other short wheel base...
I have a 4th Gen and get 22 plus on the freeway but off-road I don't think it is a great choice, actual I think it is a crappy choice. The departure and esp the approach angle is terrible, clearance is terrible and feels big. It has this traction control crap you cannot turn off. You can't...
Thanks for the update. I have a Wrangler and an 8" tablet. This would be a great option. My son has a go bro with various mounts, they have never failed.
The OP plans on staying out west in the US (possibly Baja) and maybe up to Alaska. Toyota, Jeep, Chevy, Fords parts would be more available then A UK spec vehicle. he also talks about needing a go anywhere vehicle. Even if only 1% of his trip fit into the go anywhere category a Subaru won't...
In your original post you mentioned go anywhere. I have a 4th Gen 4Runner and a 2001 Wrangler, my wrangler is modified for off roading, my 4Runner is stock. Both are different, on road and mild to some what moderate off roading you would be fine in ether. My 4th gen is a V6 but does have...
I am not smart on this but my kid's $40 smart phone will allow FM using it's own antenna, without the need for a cell signal as opposed to my much more expensive tablet not having this capability. Could having a regular head unit with blue tooth or another way to connect a smart phone (with FM...
If it is the Coleman extreme from walmart I have one that is a couple years old and it is now good for maybe a couple days if you keep it in the shade. I just used it last weekend. Much if the ice was melted after about a day. It was about 50-60 degrees and I kept the cooler in the shade. It...
I pocket carry a little Taurus 9mm 12+1. It wasn't an expensive gun but I had carried a really nice Colt 1911 but decided I want to be able take better care of the Colt. I was hesitant on getting the Taurus but I am really surprised how well it shoots.
I bought it new for 200 bucks after a 50...
When the Jeep Rubicon first came out it had E rated MTRs on it. Most people did not like them. They road ruff and even when aired down they did not conform well to the terrain. The LJ is a little heavier but not that much.
I wouldn't buy them.
if it is the one pictured below I have it and no way in hell it keeps much ice or any at all for 5 days at any outside temp at 92 deg like it states in the walmart add. It can keep ice for 5 days if the temp does not go much above 32 deg Fahrenheit. It does fine for a few days in the shade. It...
