    Procomp Xtreme Allterains

They were wearing good, good on gravel and oil lease roads which can vary, good loaded and towing, just downright scary in the white stuff.

    Procomp Xtreme Allterains

I got 30 000 KM out of a set of 35x13.50-17's on a Dodge 2500 diesel and they were about 40% left. I removed them early because they were absolutely dangerous on ice and snow. I replaced them with BFG A/T's and got the typical 30 000 KM before they were worn out but I'm alive to tell you about...

FREE BRAND NEW Thetford Electramagic 80 recirculating toilet

Just read your toilet post on pirate, I used to work on the old GM motorhomes with that style of toilet, the owners always bragged about how good they worked. I'm surprised there aren't more people stepping up for your offer. Thanks, Mark.

    Axle question?

Most likely made out of 1531 forged steel. They has issues with the front shafts, they were light around the U joint bore and were breaking there. Superior axle makes an excellent replacement front and rear if you are having issues.

    Power in the bed

Don't use a diode style isolator, use a solenoid sytle instead like a Standard Ignition SS584, run your trigger wire for the soilenoid from a source that has power when the ignition swith is in the run position, I run mine through a to 3 position toggle switch so I can connect or isolate the...

    Couple of Box Build Qs

You might want to consider polyisocyanate board insulation. I have seen and experienced foam board insulation "crumbling" if it can shake around at all, this was on coach conversions that seen pavement only. Some sheets were 1/2 gone and the bottom of the wall cavity was full of powder (big...

    Trapped in the back.

I set a few police Suburbans up for tactical. They specified a 1/8" cable attached to the latch inside with a grab loop on the inside, all it took was a 1/4" hole in the interior body panel with a grommet. Works great.

    The 2k expo rig

TF transmissions are an easy rebuild, a master overhaul kit is usually around $175, a rebuilt convertor about $75, and pick up quite possibly one of the best transmission specific rebuild manuals here http://www.txchange.com/atsg.htm for about $20 and give it a shot if you are inclined to take...

    Slides

I am seriously considering putting a slide in my camper, does anybody have any decent pics of the mechanisms under the military expandable van bodies? Or any other HD applications? I'm quite certain the RV industry stuff isn't going to cut the mustard. Thanks.

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

I am running the pivot behind the cab "across" the frame to prevent the camper box from pivoting right behind the cab. That section of the frame is quite rigid because of all of the cab mounts, the bare frame twists pretty good from that point all the way to the rear, I figure the pivots should...

    pivoting frames and mounting campers

I agree with many of the points regarding a more active suspension and a more rigid frame, the biggest issue with a long frame and the weight involved is that if the frame is not allowed to flex it increases the likleyhood of a fracture. On my F-700 I have switched out the front springs to a...

Why an M416? Why not homebuilt?

I've been seriously considering building a M416 style basic trailer in a production format (to evaluate cost) for quite some time and possibly bring it to market if there is a demand. I could use one and like yourself I see the costs of a rebuilding an old 416 meeting or exceeding a brand new...

    Synthetic Gear Oil

I have a pile of low mileage/good used Dana 35 stuff, if you need any internal parts like ring and pinion or a carrier let me know and I will see if I have them. You can have them for free, just cover the freight. It's just stuff that is too good to discard and will most likely not get used.

    Synthetic Gear Oil

Most synthetics already have the friction modifier in the formula. If your GC has the Dana 44 rear with the aluminum center section you may need a little more than on oil change, they were notorious for gear noise.
