    Is this a good platform?

Alot depends on your interest in modifying it. If you used the body on a more conventional expo-type frame I bet you'd lose some pounds and gain function. I really enjoy my short-bed utility-bed trailer. The price is atleast $500 higher than most as well. i got lucky and found a fiberglass one...

winter snow camping 2012 - NW Oregon

Bravo, Nik. I still like the 12/16 Jeep 'snow plow' at night video better. Especially the shots taken hanging out the door. Epic!

Vangater Lift - Simple Way To Get Extra Travel For Lifted Vans

Drew, clever. I use 1or 2 blocks whilst in the field to balance out my landings. Plus blocks or even a lil plywood keeps the mud/dirt away from the lift mechanism. I'm on 31" TAs and thinking about 33s for next swap. You need to get the van over to Chris at Ujoint for a transfer case and...

    Utility Box on CL

I treasure my fiberglass shortie. I think you could take this metal one and strip down quite a bit of the load. First to go would be the rear bumper.

    Inexpensive LED flood lights.

88xj, i think many of us can handle you not have a web site. i for one would like a home-grown youtube video showing the lights. Doesnt need to be refined. Just show off the value.

    Newbie trailer build

I have a similar Fiberglas util-body minus the tubtop. We love it. It's a great platform to build on. Assuming you're keeping the top, it would make a great place for hauling/storing gear. Perhaps a sleep area. Kitchen of some type. We have the RTT above for kids/dogs. Building a robust...

    For RTT users....extreme cold?

It's 3am. Only mid-30s out, but our two vizsla are keeping us plenty warm - at Tubac Golf Resort. While camping we suffer just long enough to turn.on our mr heater for a bit. Getting dogs up / down is a pain for another story Sent from my iToaster

TCO: why we deciced not to get a Sportsmobile (yet :-)

One great thing about buying a basic van and adding the extras is that you really get to assess what is necessary. Once we got ours, we realized many things about our style of traveling that altered our build plans. That justifies all my time spent here. I'm doing recon.

1991 CampMate trailer: potential RTT platform?

At the right price, that's a great 1000m venture. RTT would also add nice shady spot. Perhaps have it flip to the rear and cover ramp. Could get top heavy. I vote: do it. Sent from my iToaster

    UJOR Build Thread

Time for Chris to mount up a GoPro and do some test runs. I really enjoy my van but the Q-suspension and my 50 yr old spine just don't get along. One or both need an upgrade.
