Roof Top Tents, what is all the hype about?

I'm with Corey: Maggiolina is my preference (used to own and heavily used a medium Gran Tour...before that had an Overland). Virtually impervious to windy conditions; in other words no tent fabric flapping when you're trying to sleep. As aero on your roof as an RTT gets. Quick and easy to...

    305 KM-2's

Interesting feedback. FWIW: The all surface performance of my GY MT/R Kevlar tires have been quite impressive. Actually they are the best overall tire I've run on this rig in the almost 6-years and 105k miles of using it on dirt, mud, sand, rock, deep snow, hard pack snow, ice and slush...

Headers for the 100 - 20 pre orders needed

I didn't have cracked exhaust manifolds (no ticking) however I did notice some blow by on one of the (front or rear I forget) cylinders at the exhaust gasket. I hadn't realized the associated noise until the first fire up with the headers: As you stated they are very quiet!

    305 KM-2's

I don't know there is more than one BFG factory producing tires for North America. I was just trying to figure out why the big spread in real world experiences amongst users of the same type of tire.

Headers for the 100 - 20 pre orders needed

Nick told me the 100-Series headers were going to be a stocked item after the intro/group buy that you got kicked off uzj100! Albeit at the regular price...

    305 KM-2's

I have two buddys that have had sidewall blow-outs with BFG AT's. I was with both of them when they went. Others seem to be able to beat them with no issue. I wonder if its due to different factories and possibly their inconsistent QC? Or poor QC in general?

what last longer, white gas or propane?

Well it depends on what you mean by "higher altitudes". At say 12,000' I'd prefer a white gas burner with a pre-heat loop for the fuel. MSR among others make some great stoves designed to function very well at higher elevations. White gas offers the most bang for the buck IMO. Having said...

what last longer, white gas or propane?

Propane has about 90,000 BTUs per gallon. Gasoline has about 115,000 BTUs per gallon. And white gas (naphtha) has about 125,000 BTUs per gallon. At altitude an/or cold temps the differential grows.

    Edible Wild Plants And Survival....

Thanks Salue...I was just messing with ya! Mushroom spots are as sacred as good hunting and fishing spots ;) You should know the old joke: "There are plenty of old mushroom hunters and there are a fair number of bold mushroom hunters...but there aren't any old AND bold mushroom hunters"! I...

    Stor-it-all- totes.

FWIW the watertight translucent containers have held up perfectly for me. I use three of them inside my LC strapped down with a ratchet strap. For my application they work perfectly. They keep all the contents...no small feat on our Nevada and Utah explores(!!!)...dust free. Having said that...

    Ballistic vs. Johnny Joints

2 out of the 4 forged Ballistic Joints I used on my adjustable upper rear control arms are the same. Called BJ but talking to those guys, at least their first layer of customer service, is always a little too "hang 10" (some might construe "STONED") for me to get anywhere:Wow1:. Anyway the...

    Edible Wild Plants And Survival....

Stinging Nettles: Get them in the spring, about a foot tall, for the most tender. Use gloves to pick them and then make tea or even better IMO saute with a little butter, season with salt and pepper and enjoy as you would any other sauteed greens. A little ranch dressing atop doesn't hurt...

My first taste of Thimbleberries was on a self-contained mountain bike tour. Apart of our Hood River to Seattle route we road along the John Wayne/Iron Horse RTT trail in Washington and it was lined with ripe delicious Thimbleberries. We didn't ride many miles that day :).

    Apple Tablet: iPad

Not that I'm aware of...other than sometime ago he stated (paraphrasing) O.N. was going to be PC only with no Mac compatible mapping for the foreseeable future... Maybe we need a survey vote to see how many would be interested in an Overland Navigator Topo app for iPad (assuming he doesn't have...
