Hi all,
Need to pick brains for a moment. My M1010 project is slowly moving along and I am getting close to the point I need to attach the inner wall panels. I have researched a few things but really don't have a clear winner on what to use.
I am using .090" FRP panels to do the ceiling and...
Hahaha... I always seem to forget about that extra 50 lbs.
Fully gutted (i.e. no interior panels, wiring, etc.) mine came in at 6180 lbs. The A/C unit on the box is said to be about 200 lbs. so in theory, without that, you would be under 6000 lbs.
In my research, agree on the Henry Tropi-Cool coating as one of the best out there. That is what I am planning on using but I have no experience yet, just lots of research.
@Herbie Take a look at this video. Might be a good setup for you as well. I am doing this on our and already have the steps. Let me know if you want to check them out and see if they would work for you.
Minor progress. Adding L track to the top and bottom of the rear wall. This will allow me to build racks/mounts to hold items, like a set of steps I am modifying. This will allow me to change things easily if I need to and not worry about holes or old mounts in the rear wall. Installed...
Agree on the Wildlands door, very nice door but the window is just a bit weird but the quality of the door is top notch. I love the deadbolt function and the full screen door, which is bear proof (per Tern's claim) is nice. Way nicer door than the standard RV style that was on my FWC...
Nicely done on that e-brake setup. I was just looking at those and the Wilwood booth at a local GoodGuys car show. Exactly the idea I was thinking of. Was thinking this or another bracket from https://torqmotorsports.com/product/ultimate-8-lug-e-brake-brackets/ which use all off the shelf GM...
Knocking off small things on a big list. Scuffed and etch primer the rear wall. Was hoping to get the door final installed with sealant but the weather didn't cooperate on Sunday. I ended up installing the six scene lights around the box, two rear and two on each side. Made a drilling...
Swapping the 6.2 out for a Gen VI 7.4L BBC. Going to put an aftermarket TBI (stock type setup) sinceci didn't get any of the original EFI with the engine. Deal with gas fumes on my classic cars but would like to not deal with that on my camp rig.
Great job on this build and the repair.
Question about the evap setup. What is the plumbing diagram for setting that up? Looking to do something similar.
Since you have a 2015 rig, I wouldn't even worry about the flex brake lines at this point. Unless they are damaged, they are fine. If you are doing a lift or something where you needed longer lines, then swap them out. I have run SS flex brake lines on a lot of my hot rod type projects but...
Look into the newer "hybrid" tires, like the Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo Open Country R/T. They are a cross between mud and A/T tires and have really been getting great reviews. Not as noisy as a true M/T (though I have not found the Toyo Open Country M/T to be noisy but don't have many...
Not going to regear, wasn't ever part of my plan. Likely will do 454 swap (since I have it), carb at first (just to get it running) and then switch over to TBI system (which is about a simple of EFI you can get). Likely start with the current TH400/NP208/Gear Vendor setup but likely at some...
