Mounting things on the rear ladder?

I do not mount things to my ladder. It is access for my roof rack and I put things there. I have a swing away tire carrier that is a place for my trasharoo.

    DIY Propane Firepit

I had a small Campfire in a can long ago but found a large version at a thrift store for $25 that needed a new hose and valve that I was able to source from Amazon for $15. Now the larger one is what I take camping and the small one is for the back yard for those nights with a glass of wine and...

    Really? A 12v oven?

I would prefer a 12V microwave to an oven. Mostly I cook over fire but a micro would be a bonus in places where a fire is inconvenient. Although I am fast running out of places to carry items for comfort.

    Custom Trailer Tarp Source?

Check with car cover makers, convertible car covers. I had an industrial sewing machine and made my own after sourcing the canvas, sold the trailer later.

    Hard mattress

A little more information is needed. How big a mattress are you talking about and in what situation, home ,camping? I have a self inflating pad from REI that I use for camping that can be adjusted with more or less air to achieve the firmness I desire. I have a 3 inch mattress topper at my home...

Space between roof rack and the roof.

I store my Marston mats in the space between the rack and the roof. Maxtrax were too deep to go there. I made rails from angle that the mats rest on (they hang from the roof rack) and slide on the rails in the space. I notice no extra noise and cannot see why solar panels would cause undue...

Does a decent 12V heater exist?

I had a 12V heater in my Pinzgauer that ran off gasoline from the fuel tank, there is also one that runs off diesel. Maybe one pint of fuel for 8 hours but I only ran it with the engine going (continuous 12V supply) to heat the cab on the coldest days. The pinz has a canvas top, no heat...

    Installing a side case on a LR3/4

What is considered 'cost prohibitive'? It is all relative. I am not concerned with weight as the glass is probably more than an aluminum panel so it could only be less weight. If that metal panel over the rear glass is an item that replaces the glass then maybe it would be the answer.

    Rooftent Thefts

The street light must have been to their benefit in lighting the work area. Sorry to hear your loss. With enough hands to lift it even the weight of an item will not keep it safe. I thought I lived in a 'good' neighborhood but I am coming to realize that such a place does no longer exists. We...

    Installing a side case on a LR3/4

Even if they did I would be hesitant as that is where the radio reception grid is located. Although I might do one side but probably not both. What I am looking for is a metal replacement panel for the glass roof.

How do people wash their greasy pans?

That link just leads to HF site, no lead to the thing you are talking about. Is there a particular heading it would be under?

How do people wash their greasy pans?

I have nonstick pans so cleanup is relatively easy. I stopped using paper towels and now use the blue shop towels, they are much more sturdy and last much longer, even when wet.

    Hiding a spare key

How would secure or 'hide' a spare key for an LR as they have that big box to deal with and it does recharge the key's battery when in the ignition that would be defeater if not used for some time.

What's your favourite camp chef meal?

A meal I have had often and is easy for even me to make. Pound of stew meat sautéed in butter, diced potato, diced onion, diced red or green pepper, spices (whatever suits you), I use salt pepper and maybe a little tabasco after cooking. Cook the potato, etc separately after the meat and add...

Giving Up on Sleeping in My Vehicle

I have tent cots and OZtent RV3. Depending on the situation either one will do. I have also spent many nights sleeping in the LR, a bit cramped but relatively safe from bugs. I would mostly opt for the OZtent as it really has room and sets up and comes down quick. I am taking it on a week trip...
