Distribution of gear between vehicle and trailer

tx-jeremy, The jerry can holders are military surplus jeep can holders. I mounted them to the fenders and they have a loop on the side to secure the lockable straps so the cans don't walk away and also used a strap to keep them tighter against the side of the trailer to limit the sway and secure...

    DIY Propane Firepit

I think making things is a great idea but the information that Campfire in a can is not available is not true. They may be a bit expensive for some but carrying wood and being in areas that have a fire ban make it affordable for me. I have not had issues with them being prohibited at Nat parks...

Decision time. Trail Comm with CB required per 4x4 club. Upcoming changes, need WX.

Most that still maintain CB are probably afraid of the HAM test but it is really simple and there is no longer a Morse code requirement. Many places have a pre test information session that will answer all the questions and the book to take the exam are readily available and not at all...

    Watches.......the other type!

I am not a collector. $15000 for a watch seems a bit excessive to me, but to each their own. I have been buying Timex watches from Sportsmans Guide for years. $29 for a watch that lasts for years. I have a Rado that I bought in 1966 in Vietnam and have not worn in 25 years. Bought a Timex for...

Distribution of gear between vehicle and trailer

I built a trailer on a HF 4 foot platform with metal sides. Mostly to haul camping gear and extra gas for long distance adventures. Two gas cans on the fenders and six inside. Plus camping gear and two bikes carried on the top. A 10 pound propane tank on the front and a spare tire for the...

    LR3 Purchase Advice

If you can take the LR to the independent shop and have them look it over, for the money you will pay to have it checked it will be worth it. A little spent going in can save you lots after the purchase. It is over 15 years old and may have issues that a visual will not tell you. I have an 2007...

    Napa awning

For the most part clones are a ripoff of the original company's parts. The original company that did all the research and made the thing to fit on a particular vehicle or roof rack. There are some things that are just as good and the price difference will draw a certain cliental to the item...

    Bicycle cover recommendation?

If one of you is good with sewing you might try to make a custom one as I have not seen one like you describe. Mine are light enough that I can put them on the roof rack but I cannot carry them behind because of the swing away tire carrier. Maybe rework one of these.

Northern Tool 4ft Overland Trailer Build

I have looked at your build and from what I can see you have fantastic fabrication skills and starting with a known platform (NT trailer) it sets you up for a great trailer and considering your mindset of not rock crawling you seem to have chosen well. When I saw the first bit of your build I...

    Portable propane fire pit

I have the larger version of the Campfire in a Can. I eliminated the ceramic imitation logs and put in lava rock and it does heat well and also cools quicker than the logs when it is time to put it away. I did not feel the weight of the rocks was a detriment as has been mentioned. I do like...

    Quality Propane Tanks for Overlanding?

I have a propane fire pit that has a 6 foot hose. For cooking I have also a 6 foot hose to the stove. I take the tank(s) down from the roof rack, attach the hose and place the tank at the limit length of the hose for safety and my own peace of mind. I have found that when done cooking it is...

    LR4 and Trailer Build

Taking away the air suspension eliminates the ability to raise and lower the LR. I am guessing there was no need to raise the vehicle for going off road as the trail will always be smooth with no rocks. No need to lower it to get in a garage.

    Fridge Straps?

I know there are lots of straps available, cam lock straps were my first choice, but I wanted a more permanent setup for the ARB fridge as it was only going to be in one vehicle. I had thought a long time about straps and even about a slide setup. That did not work with the plan of creating a...
