Driving a 30’ Box Truck Over Engineer Pass, in an attempt to prove SWB 4x4 drivetrains aren’t really needed....

Probably. Figuring it would take more than 49 people to push through the whole of the route it might have been a good idea to have them along.

    Question about ARB Jack

Mine is secured to the ARB bumper in the front of my LR. I use a purchased cover for the mechanism. edit: just realized, after some research, that the ARB (hydraulic) is different from the Hi-lift (mechanical) mine is HL so mounting it horizontally is not a problem.

Dunn & Watson 48liter wheel arch water tank in US ?

Keep in mind that many things from OZ are sold in AZ dollars that are less than US dollars. If you really want it then pay the cost.

    Electric Chain Saw???

A draw knife works to debark a space for the chainsaw to bite in but not many carry one of those so an ax will have to do.

    A FWD Defender??

As the size goes down the price seems to go up. Nothing to compare it to but that thing looks tiny.

What do you consider to be the best cookware kit?

Did not go in for bling and really never thought of it as a kit. Got my flatware from a surplus store, my plates and bowls are blue enamel ware, utensils are from thrift store, also use paper plates on the metal plates for easy clean up. Coffee cups from REI, pots and pans are from Bed and Bath...

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

My trepidation for the project is that I have not done anything in fiberglass. Seeing the pics of the fender project has me thinking.

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Interesting. I was wondering if I could use that procedure to form a new top for my LR3 from fiberglass, as a stock LR has a glass panel for a roof, so the interior sliding panels allow light to enter the vehicle. Really annoys me to have a glass roof.

couple of random and general questions

When I bought my 07 LR3 the owner had installed a bit of bling and that included 22 inch wheels so he never used the compressor and it was trash. It was replaced with the more sturdy style that was standard on the LR4 and (for five years) I have had no issues since. I have to lower the LR to get...

LR4 stock long roof rails maximum load capacity??

I have a FR full length rack on my LR3 and have put my OZ3, 2 5L Scepter water can, two 10 pound propane bottles, my camp fire in a can, a medical chest with my extra clothes, shovel, and 2 camp chairs and two sand ladders up there. Not sure of total weight but never an issue for me on extended...

Edumecate me on NATO cans and spouts?

the 'W' on the can means that the can is designated for water, best not to put petrol in them. Probably why there are not spouts for them.

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Not sure how much cooler they will keep a jeep but they keep the back of my LR3 a bit cooler, especially with the roof vent open for circulation. Actually I use them more for ventilation at night as I sleep in the LR when I camp by myself. They have screening to keep out the bugs and louvers to...

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Ladders from Front Runner on the LR3 are mounted to the license plate holder and the hinge on the rear door, no drilling required and to be truthful, although I have heard stories of rust, they are very sturdy. Been on there for 5 years.

    Lets talk shovels

Thanks Ace, I was. Interesting the amount of discussion over shovels. I have gotten a lot of info and since have decided that my 'D' handle shovel that I paid $25 for is OK. I do remember someone posting a shovel, maybe not on here, that was $300. That really spooked me that a shovel would...

    Land Rover ideas for Jeeps

Interesting idea. Putting a lock on a fabric strap. Sure can't cut through that lock. Thinking of more like a metal locking strap. The fabric strap is to cut down on vibration.
