As noted, the 5-speed auto box is good, if you bypass the radiator cooler just add a second air to oil cooler and monitor your temps.
The 6-speed manual is very nice. I have it in my Frontier. Works well with the motor and it's a manual transmission! Hard to beat that.
Plenty of people out there with lots of miles on their Frontiers and Xterras. It's a proven drivetrain that has been around for far too long. That's one of the many reasons I bought one. My '17 has almost 3000 miles on it... :/
That's about right. the 2607 and 2608 are the front spring choices usually offered. The 2607 is the "medium", 2608 is the "HD", as you can see they have the same rate, just taller. The 2631 I think are for the heavier diesel trucks.
Also note, OME states the fronts (when properly weighted)...
Understandable. I'd say go by OME guidelines: No front bumper/winch, medium up front. Bumper and winch, go with heavies. The spring rates are the same, just the overall height is different. I was concerned it'd be too much spring for me even with the bumper and winch, but I have been...
Wish i could take credit for that, the dealer offered that option after i explained half of the whole reason i was getting the cap was for the pup and the regular windoors wouldn't do. It's a compromise, but i can live with it.
I do have the HD up front. I ended up with about a 1.5" lift up front. ARB bumper with Smittybilt 10k winch (which i weighed at ~65lbs, steel cable). Very happy with the springs.
It's the CX. They had a special at the time for free interior carpet on the CX models. I think it's pretty...
I ordered an ARE and it took around 6ish weeks to arrive. Had a minor issue and a major issue. Minor is they didn't order the correct clamps for it (ARE wants them to use the ones which go in the track system). Major issue is the base of the cap seems to be made about .5" too short. It...
I got a quote from them a month or so ago for what would be the same as an OME heavy front/ medium rear kit. Pricing similar, although slightly more expensive. To be honest, it felt a bit like pulling teeth to get all of the pricing info and payment, so I went with OME. After a few emails...
After reading around wondering the same thing, I went with the mediums in the back as well. My shell should be here any day. If you do feel the mediums aren't holding up, you can always just add extra leaf (I think they are ~$40 ea) later and convert the med spring pack to an HD spring pack.
I'd be down, depending on pricing of course.
A little welding isn't an issue. If you aren't comfortable or capable, just take the drawbar to a local welder and throw him a few bucks.
LOL then go ahead and spend $7-8k more for fancy shocks which you're going to modify anyway to get the fancy grill. Tried to help ya out. :)
Did you drive a non TRD pro? You won't be able to tell a difference driving it around. The rear springs are the same. The only difference is the...
As noted, dealers can't really order product from Toyota. They kinda get what they get and can choose somewhat.
Stupid question, but why not just get what is now a "TRD Off Road"? Those are usually much more available, can be had in the same color, still the off-road goodies but with other...
