Congratulations - I know you will be pleasantly surprised with the build quality of the Terrapod. I know how much effort Chad has put into selecting every component that goes into these tents. Just selecting the fabric for the tents was an epic quest - and these are made right here in...
There is a rain fly and with the inner doors zipped up it can be raining sideways and you stay dry. The prototype tents got subjected to some very intense storms on several trips out west during the development of the Terrapod.
The friend of mine who has Terrapod #3 has spent well over 100...
Kos is Chads partner at Terrapod - for a while he was loading up his truck with four tents and he was making delivery runs to customers in the Midwest. I assume the jump in gas prices and the distributors they found put a stop to this. But I would suggest you call them and see if they have come...
These telescoping ladders also come in longer lengths - I know they make a 10.5' and 12' version as well - Chad can probably supply those sizes as well but if not they are available on Amazon.
The designer of the Terrapod is 6'7" (a really oversize human) so he built a tent he could stretch out in. Plus he's a really nice guy with a background in Industrial Design and experience working at Boeing.
He had a pair of custom extrusions made for the frame of his tents, uses a lightweight...
The Terrapod comes with an extendable ladder that will easily reach around 9' tall - you can see in this picture that I have two rungs left unextended and my roof rack is over 7' off the ground.
You can enter from either side or the back - I have a 270 degree awning mounted on the drivers side...
I think Chad may now have a distributor in the Denver area - the reason they don't ship direct is that the shipping company destroyed the first one they tried to ship to the west even though it was clearly labeled "Do Not Stack" and marked Fragile all over it.
For a while they were loading five...
Scheel Mann seats were standard equipment in the legendary 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. Sitting in one of those on the showroom floor was my introduction to the brand and they are far superior to the Recaros of that era. A friend has one installed in the driver's position of his Land Rover 110...
That's a lovely Range Rover with a great choice of upgrades in the power train. Only one problem with it - the steering wheel is on the wrong side!
I've wanted a two door Range Rover since they first came out in 1970 but they were never sold over here. If I had one I'd want the same power train...
I've had horrible luck with any kind of polybush in a variety of Land Rovers over the years, from Series trucks to Range Rover Classics, Discoverys and LR3's that I refuse to use them.
I'm really enjoying this thread - haven't done any mods to my 110 beyond the Lucky 8 rocksliders but I have the winch kit which I will install soon and plan to put a set of Cooper ST Maxx tires in 265/70R18 on it this summer.
I like the way that size tire fits your truck - I'm a fan of tall and...
If you are looking for a "tall man's" roof tent that is very low profile, lightweight and superbly built take a look at the Terrapod tents built by a friend of mine in Gainesville, Georgia.
I was so impressed with his tent I sold a perfectly good Maggiolina that I had been using for ten years...
Had this for a year and a half now and I really like it. Four cylinder P300 D110 with all of the off road goodies on it. Now that the weather is warming up I plan to install the Warn winch soon.
Take a good look at the Terrapod roof tents, they are lighter than most other hard shell tents and very well constructed. I had a Maggiolina for about ten years (excellent tent that got a lot of use) but I upgraded to a Terrapod Solo last year because the Maggiolina was really more tent than I...
