1958 Series II 88 Axle swap

Shouldn't be too hard to find replacement axle assemblies - they were the same in the 88" SWB models from around 1957 until the last of the Series III's in the early 1980's. If your housings are in good shape everything just bolts on so all you have to find is a donor from another dead Rover.

    INEOS Grenadier

Saw an article today that said the diesel version is now "unlikely" for the US market. I sort of had the feeling that meeting the ever tightening US diesel regulations (thank you California) would kill the diesel version here. With the limited capacity fuel tank, range would become an issue in...

    This truck is unbelievable good

My D5 diesel was an excellent tow vehicle - I had a 17' Escape travel trailer that weighed around 3200 lbs loaded to travel. The Discovery 5 towed it like it wasn't even back there (at 70 mph in some instances). And it would get over 20 mpg while doing it. It was also a lot of fun to drive on...

    Alternative Front Runner Table

Look at the Kovea bamboo tables from Nomadica - they fold up into a fairly small package and have three height adjustments - they aren't inexpensive but a lot less money than the Frontrunner one. They won't go under the rack but the medium size folds up into a 19.7" x 19.6" x 4" package. The...

    This truck is unbelievable good

The D5 is very capable off road and extremely comfortable on road. This TDV6 tagged along on our trail ride this weekend and made everything look easy.

Small Meat Freezer for Offroad Teardop

I've owned two Engel Fridges - started with a 35 quart and moved up to a 45 quart (gave the 35 to my sister for her Four Wheel Camper rig). The 35 is over ten years old and still chillin'. I think Engel makes a 17 qt that would be a great freezer. The other option is a Snowmaster dual...

    Smallest Hard Shell Roof Tent?

My Terrapod Solo is 32" wide - since my wife will not climb a ladder I use this for my solitary camping trips. It leaves me extra room on the roof rack for other stuff in a Pelican case. Its made in Gainesville, GA from extremely high quality materials and its 5.5" tall and weighs around 88 lbs...

Thinking of swapping my RTT for a swag.

I spent a lot of years sleeping in my original Eureka Timberline 2 man tent which was big enough to hold a cot and dead simple to set up. When the waterproofing coating finally failed (and started to stink) I replaced it with a bigger Eureka tent but I still miss the old Timberline sometimes. I...

    Autohome vs James Baroud

The Terrapod is worth a look - here is my SOLO model - my wife won't climb a ladder so I bought the 31" wide single version for my off grid camping trips so I could have some extra room on the roof rack for other stuff since a D90 is so small. This way I can carry a Pelican case with "guest...

    Ultimate camp shoe?

I used to live in desert boots - until you just couldn't find them any more. Crepe soles, very comfortable, easy to slip and on and off - and cheap! Yes you had to tie the laces but for about fifteen years it was my shoe of choice.

    Smallest EZ-up

A 1995 Eriba Puck that I imported from the UK early last year. They are made in Germany. It's 12' long and weighs around 1000 lbs. They were designed to be towed by Volkswagens and other small cars. It's my third Eriba travel trailer - or caravan as they are called over there. It's the perfect...

    Smallest EZ-up

I've used a couple of the Bus Depot awnings that are sold to VW Bus owners - they clamp onto the rain gutter and come in two sizes. Very sturdy and very compact when folded up. Here's a picture of the smaller size mounted on my travel trailer. They have optional side panels that attach via...

    Sold my RTT...Why??

I bought a Terrapod SOLO because there is no way I would ever get my wife to climb a ladder into a roof tent. I have a small travel trailer if she wants to tag along but for those trips where I'm traveling alone its a great option. Plus I have around two feet of room left over on the roof rack...

    Autohome vs James Baroud

My opinion is that Maggiolinas are much better - I had a used Maggiolina on my truck for ten years with absolutely no complaints. A friend of mine had a James Baroud and sold it after one year - he said he had quality issues with the JB. He's had several different brands of roof tents and liked...

Looking for hard shell tent that opens and overhangs to left (US driver's) side

Terrapod wedge tents can be entered from either side or the back, plus they are lighter and lower profile than any roof tent that I am aware of. My Terrapod Solo weighs 85 lbs and is just over 5" tall.
