True but LR traction control, which is reverse ABS, is embedded in the ABS subsystem. So while the generic ABS algorithms may be standard across several manufactures, there would be specific functions unique to LR layered on top / integrated.

    New Defender News

All TC systems REQUIRE wheel spin. They are basically reverse ABS, algorithms that leverage existing wheel sensors to selectively apply brakes to a single wheel. Sway control is a 'feature' layered on top of the same technology. I've said this before, today's TC emerged in the 93 RRC and was...

Good news: Jaguar Land Rover to continue AJ V8 production in-house

Excellent. JLR needs a V8 to bridge the gap to 2030 FCEV's and also to serve markets outside of the UK. In addition BEV's are a poor choice for RR's.

Is buying a Discovery II a bad idea?

As with all pre-owned the previous owner/s are a significant factor as will be your standard of care. once sorted a DII can be an excellent truck. I still see many DII's in daily use here, many more than the D5 but less than LR3/4's.

    JLR Restructuring / Reorg

This thread is not another rage/hate fest. It's the realities JLR is facing. Either they address them or become a much smaller entity. The issue for JLR and all manufacturers is the UK's move to ban ICE and hybrids by 2032, hence the new push for FCEV's. BEV's simply can't serve the larger...

    JLR Restructuring / Reorg

Since we are now just a few weeks away from the new CEO and the announcement of significant changes to address the decline of JLR I thought it good to have a thread to discuss the new direction. Near and dear to all of us is powertrain so let's review previous statements and today's new...

    INEOS Grenadier

I'm thinking the JLR hate/rage thread will re-emerge as JLR's new CEO begins his cost cutting, model deletions, redundancy and restructuring of JLR. I still say that JLR should relabel the new luxury Defender as the Discovery 6 and acquire the Grenadier to bring to market as the Defender. Ineos...

Agreed. There is a "domestic" category. Why not a European category. JLR should be a sub-section of European.

How many times has the word 'Jeep' been used to describe an off road vehicle? Infortunately for JLR they lost the Defender monikor to Grenadier.

Not saying Ineos is a supplier to the following but the advantage of using fuel cells vs BEV's for overland/travel is clear. https://fuelcellsworks.com/news/hyperion-takes-the-covers-off-its-xp-1-hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered-hypercar/ 1000 mile range, less than 5 minute refuel time and a energy...

    New Defender News

Our TT is a Lance 2375 which we tow with our LR4, without a WDH. Originally considered a WDH but LR says no. I've seen multiple positions on air suspension and WDH. Argh.

    New Defender News

It did do well. Was somewhat surprised at the mediocre fuel mileage on the climb and the relatively high rpm's but overall it did well. Looks like they ran without a WDH. Also, what happened to the Ford brake controller interface that the LR4 supported? The new Defender has none? And as usual...
