    ASPW Rolex & Range Rover

I've played the obnoxious Rolex owner as well - I am the current caretaker of my grandfather's 1954 Rolex Turn-O-Graph (predecessor to the Rolex Submariner). I was 18 when I snagged it from my father's dresser because he wasn't wearing it - with his permission of course. That was 48 years ago.

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

usually immediately after they overheat and there are several reasons for that. One of the plastic plugs in the radiator spontaneously disintegrates (change them to brass ones). Bad water pump (frequent culprit) Lower half of radiator plugs up due to transfer of crud from the block into the...

Driving LR3 in North central Mexico???

You really don't want to do that in Mexico - even possessing a single round of ammunition can land you in a word of hurt with the Federales...

1970 SIIA Dormobile - fitting Propex and second battery

She has a water tank in the cavity ahead of her left rear wheel arch but her truck is a two door 109. She also has a propane bottle mounted underneath somewhere. She gave us a "tour' of her truck at OEX East in 2016 but I don't remember her battery setup. My 109 diesel wagon originally came with...

Best spark plugs for LR3 HSE

NGK plugs have a coating on them that makes anti-sieze unnecessary. You can get them at NAPA or Autozone.

RAM x mount on LR3 Dash

I used the Proclip part number 853572 mount on my LR3 with a Ram ball mounted to it and a short arm and X-mount to hold my cell phone. It worked really well.

    Importing a G?

Are Azalai's common in Europe? They are my dream camper - I saw a Toyota Hilux based one last Spring in South Carolina. It was being driven by a Spanish couple who were touring the USA, They didn't have any problem bringing it over on a temporary visa. I knew an Australian couple who brought...

Can you still get the BFG old version All Terrain KO?

The old style BFG AT's were terrible in mud - the new ones have a design feature to help them self clean according to a BFG tire engineer I talked to at the Overland Expo. I'd go with the new ones.

    Vintage "poop" tent

I was down in my basement sorting through some other stuff a week or two ago and spotted the poles for my old Timberline - and thought I threw that thing away years ago, didn't I? A few more minutes of searching and I found my old stinky green tent. Now I get to try your trick to see if I can...

who is using a real gps vs a tablet

Any advice on using a Windows based tablet for navigation? I'm especially interested in something that will allow you to use tracks and routes from a Garmin GPS system on a Windows platform.

    Defender test mule spotted

I was one of the first in our Land Rover club to buy a used LR3 - once I had one other guys started getting them and now there are at least five other LR3's and LR4's in our group. I plan on buying a new Defender when they come out but also went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Discovery 5...

    Moving from LR3 to RRS

The 2013 RRS would have shorter wheelbase than the LR4 so it wouldn't be as good a tow vehicle. Good choice on the LR4!

    Rover axle interchangeablity question.

When I swapped my 10 spline RRC rear axles over to 24 spline Discovery axles I remember that I had to change the rear stub axles - not sure if I swapped the hubs as well but I don't think so. Its been about 18 years since I did that swap so the details are a little fuzzy.

Take me to School: Camp Stoves

After running through several old Coleman stoves (both white gas and propane) I finally broke down and bought a 16" Partner steel stove last Spring - I paired it with a 5 lb. propane bottle with a 1 lb bottle as backup. I was trying to reduce the size of some of my camping equipment. My old...

    Patriot campers in USA

I really like the X2 - with one of the new Eezi-Awn Stealth roof top tents on top it would be a great trailer to tow behind a diesel D-90.

    Patriot campers in USA

I saw those at Expo East and was thoroughly impressed as well - very nice campers and well thought out. The stairway to the upper bunk was killer!
