Trailer Building Indepent Arm Building - Official Guide

As for bushing ideas, I would consider something like the Global West Del-A-Lum bushing idea. I have used these in a couple different performance car applications and they worked great. Pivot with the low friction like a bearing and about zero deflection but without the wear issues a metal to...

    Water pump

Based on the info you have about the fluid change, if that mileage is on that pump, there is no question, I would replace it in a heartbeat if it is leaking anywhere. Most likely if original pump, so is the t-stat. I would replace that as well, flush the block and radiator and if the radiator...

    Fluid change

Actually I have heard positive and negatives about switching over to synthetics on high mileage transmissions. The debate goes as follows, High mileage trannys typically have worn some of the clutch material away but is still "floating" around as particles which has a little "bite" to the...

    Add one more Cherokee...

Yep, dumping the poly bushings most likely made 95% of the difference. I never run poly in joints that have any twisting motion. Too much binding.

    Troy's '98 XJ

Glad to help. Also good to know about 4.88's... not that I am going to need them. If I ever move up tire size, it would be to 33" and that would be max for me.

    Troy's '98 XJ

Here is the same axle that you have listed above but for $1137.95 + shipping. http://www.discountjeepparts.com/product_info.php/cPath/3121_3126/products_id/23160 I bought this one for my Jeep (this vendor/product I listed). To me it was the perfect deal. Since I regearing to 4.10's by the...

    Add one more Cherokee...

Yep, front diff vent. Normally zip tied to the upper control arm. Rig is looking good! Glad you kept the 16" wheels. That's what I have and are by far my favorite OEM Jeep wheels.

    Jeep XJ mini spare tire.

I have a ~31" (245/75-16) tire in the stock location having removed the mini spare. Many others have done it as well. It takes getting the tire in just right but it will fit.

    Jeep XJ mini spare tire.

Actually if you are running a LSD or locker, a mini spare is completely useless. You'll burn up a LSD with different size tires (anything over the ~28" stock size) and a locker would "drag" the smaller tire around and create some very weird handling/driving issues. Honestly, in most places...

    So, I miss my LJ....

Understand that. Not nearly enough offroad this year... well unless you count our trip last week to Hawaii. Had a 09 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon!!! :wings: Over 1100 miles of driving with about 150 of those offroad.

    Rear platform/storage done in XJ!!!!!

Looks good. Limits head room in the back. :D I think that is one complant I have with the XJ over a Disco or Cruiser is, when you raise the floor like this, the head room is lost. Since their floor the roof height is taller, it is not as bad. Good job.

bumper and hitch loads and breaking points

I agree, I think to get a certified rating they have to go thru some Federal Safety testing which cost money. It's cheaper for them to not rate them and call them "recovery" points as I have seen them called. This way, if you tow anything with them and it fails, they can't be held responable...

Class III Hidden Hitch... really class II??

I have a U-haul hitch currently and it is the same rating at the HH, DT and Valley. I also have a factory Mopar that I am going to swap on and I think it has a higher rating (will have to check the sticker again) but in looking at the two, the Mopar one has a much better/number of bolt holes...

    Scepter Can color straps?

I think the idea was to get the yellow ones and paint/coat them the color you need. It wasn't to use your old ones but please do post up any info as I might want to get a few spares for my cans.

How many of use are really prepared to live a long life?

Group hug... but I am not snuggling with you in a sleeping bag... Actually I feel I was headed for a very early grave. I spent 36 years of my life very angry, hateful and revengeful. I really didn't care about others and was a self proclaimed ************. This had transpired from a...

How many of use are really prepared to live a long life?

I agree that no matter what you do, everyone is going to die someday. I know of people and stories about healthy, athletic people dropping dead before 50 and people like George Burns who drank and smoked and lived into his late 90's. My dad, who had a heart attack 6 or so years ago and had a...

    *Best* Battery?

Okay but the Sears Gold is not the same as the Platinum and based on everything I have read, is not made by Johnson Controls.
