    Roll Cages-

Man that is about the worst I have seen done on a trail roll in an XJ. Glad your friend made it out. I agree that a cage is very worth it but has to be done right, especially one that is DD or spends a lot of time on public roads. I put a roll bar in my Miata because that A piller is not...

    Insurance...

V\To answer your one question, I would buy a Logan's bumper myself and was really looking at them. I ended up getting a deal on a Loose Nut's bumper that I couldn't pass up so I went that route. About the only thing I didn't care for of the Logan's bumper was I though it stuck the winch out a...

AT Horizon Hub Swap and a few other Mods

Does anyone who swapped drums/hubs from 5 on 4.5 (i.e. Jeep) to whatever they needed, want to sell off their old drums cheap? I have been looking to put brakes on the trailer but know I will need spacers to clear the Jeep wheel center bore (factory wheels) so if I can get a set of drums I can...

    Trailer carnage pics :(

First off, very sorry to hear of the damage but glad no one was hurt and you were able to get everything back home. Always a positive in my book. Second, great job on the recovery. I can't wait to get my winch setup and it surely makes me think more about straps, pulleys and other things that...

    Trailer carnage pics :(

Not only would it still have flipped, two potential things could have resulted. One, it the truck was off camber, there could have been enough binding that it could have caused the truck to flop over too. Second and more likely, the force of the binding up most likely would have bent parts on...

    1969 Honda CT-90

I would so love to have this but the wife has said no to anymore cycles. Great deal for someone though.

    IT never ends..

Actually I have seen belt seperation that will cause a slight lump in the tire but still balance okay. Glad it sounds like you got it figured out and you are right, old parts need to be replaced at some point anyways. Now you know you have many, many miles ahead without worry.

    Vacuum-packed Storage Bags- Use em?

I agree, we have the same style. I think we got them from Bed, Bath and Beyond. We keep all of our bedding in these (pillows, sheets, blanket in individual ones) and with them compressed down we can fit all of them into our waterproof storage box. No way they would fit without being...

    12V Circuit Breakers

Great prices! I just sent Dave the first site I found, since I was telling him about these. Way better than any fuse setup. I use mine as a disconnect all the time.

dual batteries - do they have to have the same specs?

Optima's might seem like a "great" price value but what is the value when you are out in the middle of nowhere and that Optima is dead. I was lucky and my yellow top died the day before we where leaving on a trip. Had to rush to the place I bought it for a replacement under warranty, which was...

    Canon G11 - Impressions

x100 for me. Lots to learn but hey, it's a heck of a lot easier and cheaper then the old days of film. I can't even imagine trying stuff like I am messing with, if it was film. Was playing with the macro tonight. :Wow1:

    Canon G11 - Impressions

Well, after way too many hours of reserach, I finally got down to our local real camera store and played around with some different models I was looking at. Walked out today with a new G11. Now I just need to learn how to use it off Auto mode. :D

Agggg!!! I am so camera researched burnt out...

Well, went down to the local camera store and after playing around with the G11, EP-1, SX1 IS, I decided that the G11 will work for most everything I want to do, espcially after picking up a Lensmate adapter and a teleconverter. It was smaller than the others, lighter and will work well for a...

    IT never ends..

Wow, you have just about replace everything. Something I recall reading about is the steering shaft itself, from the steering column to the steering box. They can develop some play and could be a cause. I would say, with the engine off, tires on the ground, have someone rotate the steering...

Agggg!!! I am so camera researched burnt out...

That's the problem I am running into. I realize that ideally I need two different cameras but I also know that most of the trips we do, I would almost never take a full dSLR because of the bulk. Here is the picture I took two years ago on Kauai that made me start to think about replacing my...

Agggg!!! I am so camera researched burnt out...

Okay, I will start by saying I am a noobie to the higher end, manual settings camera world. I have been using a Konica-Minolta DiMAGE D600 camera for the last 4-5 years and have been very happy with it but I am starting to want to do things I am limited in doing with this camera. I have been...

    IT never ends..

I can't remember if you changed this or not but have you replaced the unit bearings? Also, are you at stock height or lifted? If lifted, did you keep the stock lower arms? If so, the lower arms could be too short. I recall finding a chart that listed how much longer the lower arms needed to...

Anyone else get bored and just paint their jeep?

Looks good! So, you going to share the what's and how's of what you did? I have a '68 C10 truck that I am going to need to paint soon and am always looking for inexpensive, easy and good looking ways of doing it. Love to see some before shots too.

Overland Use Point & Shoot (PNS) Cameras

Not sure if this would fall into the PNS catagory but seems to hit a lot of the "wants' above, the Canon SX1 IS. http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3974&review=canon+powershot+sx1 Removing the HD video aspect, the similar SX10 IS is a little lower price point. I haven't...
