Hawkbeard,
If you do your own wrenching it would be worth it to get the IID tool. Will make keeping that beauty on the road much easier.
Mine has already saved me money and time.
Do cargo nets stop things from bouncing around on rough trails? Not sure about that.
I use cam straps and eye bolts into the FR rack. Almost anything up there is bolted to the rack and secured with wing nuts, no bouncing or rattles. Just light stuff, although occasionally extra petrol cans that...
Try putting the in a military duffle bag, heavy canvas, last a lifetime. Probably get at least two in there.

We used to put candle wax rubbed on cardboard boxes as sleds when I was a lad back East. Maybe use wax to ease the slide after rounding the bottom as mentioned above. Old skate wheels fitted into the side rail? The wheels used at the bottom of sliding doors fitted into the wood? Lots of cheap...
Thanks for your posting.
Just ordered an Aeros pillow to take up (I am sure) less space in the LR and hopefully sleep just as well as the one I had from the house. Everything is an experiment.
I made two. One for the horizontal tank and one for the vertical tank. One tank is for the propane camp fire, one for cooking.
The horizontal tank is held on with straps, the cradle bolted to the FR rack and the vertical one is bolted to a metal platform that is attached to the FR rack with 4...
Going to need something fairly sturdy to support a 270 awning. I have seen several trailer builds on this site that might give you ideas for supporting the awning and you most probably have to create it or have it built. If you include pics of your trailer you may get more concrete ideas from...
They have great little engines made for this vehicle.
A few more things about the Pinzgauer, if you try to put a bigger engine in a pinz to get more power, better change the transmission (shifter) and the gearbox (low range transfer gears) too. Maybe even the drive line cause sure as can be you...
Not sure about them being worth it but if you are stuck and they help to get you out then they are probably worth it. I did not get them but instead I got something like Marston mats (billet 4x4 sand ladder) that I made brackets for that fit under my Front Runner roof rack. The MaxTrax will not...
NO, first off why bother? If you do that it is no longer a pinz. Very few engines (not motors, a motor is electric) will fit in a pinz and if it isn't air cooled you have made a massive and very expensive problem for yourself. Just buy a Jeep and let it go. Maybe get a G wagon, lots of them...
Not sure of the roof configuration of the L322 but the FR full size rack fit well on my LR3 and it was a bolt on, lots of flat surface up on that rack.
I had a 73 710M for 10 years and I loved it, and I miss it. True it wasn't fast on the highway but off road it was very hard to beat it, about 16 MPG on highway. If it were a diesel it would have been a dream. I also had a 63 404S UniMog for about ten years and it would go anywhere, although...
80t0ytc,
Thanks for posting that site. It did answer my questions pertaining to the fitment of the Alu-cab awning to the FR rack. Looks simple enough with only two adapter pieces. They suggest mounting the pieces with thru bolts at the FR rack which would require drilling the rack but if I use...
Those bags are truly attractive and most likely the appropriate size for most folks. there are so many variations of use of a trash bag that 'one size fits all' is not going be the best to work as some want one for a tailgate, some for a tire and some for a ladder. These are probably going to...
