    Hodakaguy's 4x4 Sprinter Build

Nice! My kids ride on the bed when off-pavement as well. The bouncer the better for them. If not the bed then 'surfing' in the galley... van surfing we call it. Every now and then we make them buckle-up, when the terrain gets a bit too hairy. A tumble off a shelf road might not survivable...

It's a Van So Its Got To Have Stickers. Let's See Your Van's Stickers!

The only stickers on our 4x4 We had a lot of stickers on the rocket box we had on our old Syncro. I want to keep this van a bit more under the radar. ADV-on (They're reflective too - safety first!)

    Hodakaguy's 4x4 Sprinter Build

Glad I found another Hodakaguy build! I followed your Syncro build on thesamba years ago (when I had a syncro as well). Now you're building a 4x4 Sprinter and I have one too (Stone grey no less). Looking forward to more

Not So Subtle E350 Shuttle - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Sorry if this is more hijacking Gregor... There are some very narrow trails here in CO. Many, like Merano, is narrow with undergrowth. Some are narrow with deadly drops. Trees are OK, you just get a souvenir of Colorado pin stripes, drops not so much. Search out your routes and see what...

MT trip just after X-mas (stayed in Bozeman and rode Bridger and Big Sky). Saw a sweet E350 4x4 just outside Billings on the way there - they flashed their lights at us (Howdy if you're here) Awesome snow!

    Pop-tops: are they worth it?

^^Except you don't have the same headroom to play with. I've had a pop-top for 12-13yrs now, first in our Vanagon (factory VW) and now in our Sprinter (SMB). Like iaacek mentioned above, a BIG reason a lot of people go with a pop top is KIDS. We have two of 'em and they are large now at 16...

Not So Subtle E350 Shuttle - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Yes, you should be fine on the width. The Sprinter had no problem at all. (It's a bit more capable than many think) It's no rock crawler, but we traveled over several passes last summer (Engineer, Ophir, Medano), and down MANY 4x4 trails (including the section of Schofield Pass road between...

Not So Subtle E350 Shuttle - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Great update Gregor! Love your build. Such excellent work. Not to hijack, but I have to agree that Medano Pass and the Sand Dunes are super cool. Our family (wife, 15 & 8yr olds boys, and myself) had been to the Dunes in the past, but made our way over Medano (E to W) this summer in the...

A tale of two vans' travels: Over 25 trips together

I echo all the sentiments above... Not what I was expecting in this thread. Very sad. While I never mat the man, but I first saw his incredible rig on thesamba where he shared knowledge across platforms (as Astro Guy). RIP Tom

Not So Subtle E350 Shuttle - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Really? And it seems like there is no 'fix' yet, neither MG nor UJOR solutions have fully worked for this van. Good luck to ALL who are venturing down the road less traveled.

Crested Butte (~10,000' ASL) Medicine Bow NF - Snowy Mnt range (~10,500' ASL) Fun jeep trail to get here (all the people we spoke to, all 4 of them that passed our site, were amazed that we were there. I didn't think it was that bad)

    EXPOdition

Good stuff! I too wonder WHY people leave their trash out in such beautiful places (not that trash is OK even in less-than-beautiful places). I just don't get it. We pick up bags of garbage in our travels as well. Lots of cheap beer and energy drink cans, which leads me to think less of...

    Insulation (thermal and sound) Suggestions?

The MLV is around 5/16" thick, maybe a bit more but not quite 3/8". You could use it on the walls, but we went with Rammatt to lessen vibrations and a full covering of Thinsulate, then enclosed with a wall panel. That has cut the noise significantly. (I have temporary/template double thick...
