This is a big distinction, and you are correct - the Sprinter requires you to basically stop to engage 4x4. Even my 30yr old Syncro could shift into 4x4 on the fly (with a decoupler). It's kind of annoying, but we just throw it into 4x if there is even a chance of snowy roads. There is no...
Not quite as low per my maths, Blotz (someone could correct me though)
5pd 4x4 Sprinter with 'low' range has an overall gearing of 20:1 in 1st (first gear w/o low is 14:1)
The 10spd awd ecoboost transit has an overall gearing of 17.5:1 in 1st
^^ both with stock tires
But close.
Lower would...
Long weekend in southern Utah, came home yesterday.
Valley of the Gods
I have some good night shots of the geological features also, but no van in there....
Really cool driving around Comb Wash and Butler Wash. Hiking to ruins and petroglyphs, and dinosaur tracks!
X-files fans here too - along with coguzzi (used to have watch parties back in the day).
However, as much as I can see why people don't like cold-blowing-air vault toilets, there is no 'sewer' to worry about - haha
Nice work Blotz!
Sweet floor! clean, clean, clean install.
Any previous experience with gluing the whole floor structure down? Could vehicle flex put stress on it? Though it's almost another structural member now (wall-to-wall 1/2" Baltic)!
I'm pretty sure that 2000 v10 chateau lives near me (in Louisville). I talked with the owner briefly just last week as we were walking by (him poking around under the hood).
Cool van!
I really like the ceiling panels as is. I'd clear coat them, but that's me. A light colored wood ceiling would be nice and bright and add some visual warmth.
I'm know you have your materials selected already though. It will be sweet upholstered too.
ha - NO. When I do a build thread I'll likely incriminate myself.
Looking forward to seeing more of your build in-process. Then we need to meet with campers somewhere between CO and Quebec, or stop through on your way and we'll caraVAN to Baja.
(Updated photo to something more... topical)
I have a Ikea bed frame that I modified for our first bed setup. It is shortened (73.5" long) and lifted (20" of clearance underneath, big totes are ~17.5" tall), original full size width (56.25"). This fits a full size mattress with no frame sticking out of the ends.
You would probably want to...
Nice work as always dood!
Auto pimpin'
Here's that Power Stroke towing my Syncro donor across the front range, like it wasn't back there.
It's been quite a while since the days of rebuilding a Super Beetle in the dirt floored garage.
(Still see the SVX Syncro around town)
It does well for a big ass van. Lockers would be cool, but it gets around on it's own pretty well.
Not that Engineer is a 'difficult' route, but our Sprinter did it with no drama at all. (one of many places we've taken our van around CO and WY).
