Yes - I did consider the side opening windows, and then opted not to get them. And they were reasonably priced. The reasons I didn't go with them:
1. I just didn't think I'd use them enough. There's really nothing I can't reach from the tailgate end (even with the drop-down tailgate)...
Here's a shot of some of these cat litter buckets in my trailer.
They also get used in my shop. When I built the shelves in my shop, I made sure I had enough space to put these buckets on the floor and under the first shelf. They hold things like ratchet straps, trailer hitch balls and...
I've got the Rancho 2.5" springs on my 46 Willys. I've had them on there for a good 24 years or so, and they've been Jeeped hard. I've been very happy with them. Ranch used to sell a 1" lift spring - you might be able to find a pair from someplace that has them in a dusty storage place...
I'm loving these ideas Jeff. Keep'm coming!
Bulldawg Manufacturing makes fiberglass tops for TJs with the side windows that open up.

I've got one of their regular tops (and their hard upper door halves) on my 98 TJ and have been...
Here you go - this is easy. If you can drill a hole, this'll work. I'll use my truck and some X-Bulls I've got to demonstrate what I did. First measure the distance between the mounting holes on your board at each end, and see if you can space the crossbars on your roof the same distance...
Here's an example on my TJ (carrier built by Dirtworx) that has a jerry can on the swing-away.

Now this is funny... I just googled "Dirtworx" to get a link for this post (after linking the pictures below), and what did...
Too cool; keep the ideas coming. I used to find a very good off-road magazine from Australia at a particular bookstore, but either I moved (Army) or they stopped carrying it. They had some pretty cool articles; I should have subscribed to it.
I'm following the thread just fine. I've had too many times I've had to Google something to find out what folks were originally posting about, and I've thought "I shouldn't be having to do this". Flippantly saying "Google is your friend" is missing the point. Have you been following this...
Then why are you even bothering to do a review when "Friends don’t [let] friends make decisions based on random reviews on online forums..."
Let me try a different approach since the light touch isn't working here:
(IMO) It is rude and inconsiderate to readers on this forum start a thread...
I love Google. I google all sorts of stuff - overlanding stuff, Jeep stuff, gun stuff, weird stuff that catches my interest or I'm curious about. I learned all about my new chainsaw (before and after I bought it) by googling for information (that and U-tube videos). However....
Friends don't...
Thank-you. I appreciated your review of the product. And I saw you added some visuals. I've seen them advertised, and since I had to do "A simple google search" to find out exactly what you were talking about (which I posted links to), now the ads keep popping up on my computer.
Your intent...
Please... if you (or anyone out there) are ever going to review a product, at least provide a link and/or picture to said product so everyone else will know what you are talking about. You know... so we can get a visual.
And I don't think posting a picture-or-two of the shovel and these...
I've had one of their double-row 12" lights for years mounted using a bracket they sell (or did sell) that mounts the light bracket between the bumper and the roller fairlead. Have been very happy with it, and have had no issues.
I've just got a regular pointy-nose shovel attached to the front of my trailer with some quick-fists. Got it either from HD or Lowe's - not expensive. If someone were to steal it, I'd just buy another one (they must need one bad if they stole mine). Can't see spending hundreds on a shovel...
