I think you would be fine without. The traction control is well tuned (better than my lexus GXs) offroad and can get you out of most pickles. I drove an XD Platinum Reserve yesterday; felt very similar to my truck with a slightly nicer ride from the longer wheelbase. Maneuverability was fine...
I've used the locker a several dozen times. Mainly it helps keep wheel slip down and avoids shock loads to everything and minimizes trail damage/mud throw. It's only been completely necessary maybe 5 times all of which were blown out road situations and lifting one or more tires. The traction...
One under the cabover, lifted enough to get a strap under the middle and then to the rear door hinges. Didn't quite get the tension and COG correct so slight rodeo but it worked ha. Thinking about installing lift points on the cabover since I have the AF one piece top frame. Make it a lot...
Drove one of our fleet f150s today. Supercab 2021 with the 5.0 and the 8' bed. Transmission is super jumpy first few gears. Kind of annoying but other wise solid seeming. 2000lb payload with a rear locker. Hmmmmmm.
Fuel savings is non existent. Most places it's more expensive fuel and maintenance costs out weight it. I would really reconsider the diesel if you are planning on any sort of wet conditions. The weight makes a huge difference.
Crazy money just to go places base model stock trucks drive around on all the time.
This is a long thread but why diesel? They are so heavy offroad on an already heavy truck...
That was my first go and it helped a bunch but not quite there. He added a bunch of plywood to the bottom and then coated it in some sort of epoxy bed coating stuff. Looks heavy...also fully insulated it etc. There's no water system or batteries so I'm actually a bit shocked at the tongue...
Appreciate it. He probably doesn't have real long. Good reminder to get out and enjoy life while you are able! Sneaks up on us all.
How's the maneuverability of the XD in comparison? I really love my Titan but if a trailer and ovrlnd camper is in play at the same time it's probably time for a...
Suppose I could be mistaken but I recall using the build and price and getting connected with the dealer while in Colorado. It was on an XL with a 3.5.
Edit. I can't find anything saying that super cabs had the HDPP. Weird! There's the vin if anyone can pull the original window sticker...
Somewhere around 1900-2200 would be great for me. Found a 2021 Titan XD Pro4x with a 2000lb actual payload and a good price but checking out other options too.
I know they offered in 2021. GVWR was 7850 I believe. I know because I looked at a new super cab 3.5 max tow hdpp 6.5 bed before buying my Titan but the prices were at the peak and the dealer was annoying so I went with the Titan.
