This sounds like a great trip. I agree with some of the comments about not trying to do too much. You'll find so many places that are so beautiful. While Im not looking to add more to the agenda you are going close to a few places I would recommend.
Also I agree with the comments on the Grand...
Thanks for putting this up. I have often written journals of trips which are great for me to review/remember but would make lousy trip stories for someone else. I like the process you outlined thanks!
May be moot at this point but how much would it be to have someone make the bowl you need in metal? Sorry for the frustrations but you make a key point when customizing anything....each thing begets something else.
You'll post a link when you're done with your writeups of the race I hope... I...
Really great work! That is an inspiring build. And nice to see you really use it too. I'm curious about your beadlocks comment re a DD....why don't u like them for that? Thanks for posting this build!
Great work. You can also set the declination on the compass. If you're not sure how or cant find it online I'll grab the instructions from my owners manual and post them. Looking good and great price! ;)
Dunno if this has gone any further but interesting...make sure to read the comment too. Dunno if that's truthful or not but could be interesting. Either way lousy customer service for sure.

I think it is...but that is the beauty of it and trip too. You had the sadness of leaving folks behind, but the joy of gee thing reacquainted with others you missed. It makes it all more special as you get those ranges of emotions. It was just interesting having read the poignant words of how...
Just read the latest Drive piece. I was struck by the incongruity between your visiting your friend and how important that was and the next article in "related" below it was "hitting the road means leaving people behind". Great article as they all have been. Thank you.
Paton I don't doubt your mechanic couldn't balance them for some reason but if they were the same version (model) as is sold at major tire stores I doubt they are of a different quality. I have read that Goodyear makes some models only for Sam's and the hint is there were of lesser quality which...
ThethePete- IIRC the Centrematics use beads and oil to do it. From what Mike is saying though the size of the Centrematics relative to the size of the tire may be at (or just beyond) the extent of their "range". They do make much larger ones for semis etc. so it's not a limitation of the...
Thanks for the review. I appreciate it. Others I have read are similarly pro on the Falkens. Makes sense that the wheel may just be too big for the centrematics to do what you need.
The Harbor Freight bubble balancer has decent reviews if you set it up correctly. Seems like it would be a good...
Love following your progress! Thanks for coining to document the build. I'm curious as to how you feel about the Falken's now that you have a bunch of miles on them? How are they wearing? Would you buy them again? Also with the Centrematics do you balance the tires/wheels at all before putting...
I wonder if you would do better to strip a lot of the metal off it. If all u want is a way to go up and down the beach fenders, doors and all the body parts will trap moisture and enhance rusting. Why not strip it to a sand rail like vehicle? Easier to paint the frame that way too. Just throwing...
I am enjoying this thread but also enjoying the Drive stories as well. Different perspectives but great reads. You are a gifted writer. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Godspeed.
I would worry about the ax and shovel as well.
