What a great trip. I remember having your EXACT same reaction when I first saw the canyon "appear" through the trees. That feeling of "did I really just see that?!!" So cool. I also have paraphrased the movie Grand Canyon with Danny Glover so many times to people (if you haven't seen the movie...
many countries have laws preventing (sadly) their citizens from carrying firearms. Does that make them some how "more safe"? I don't think so.
Do you disagree with those in Canada who carry weapons too? Or is your comment only directed at Americans? And while you can call it "paranoia" the...
I always have a weapon when camping or hiking. Of course....I usually have one when I am close to home too. "Savage beasts" don't start and end with bears and other four legged critters of the animal kingdom. Some of the worst (most actually) are the two legged kinds. And I feel its my...
Sounds like the perfect little getaway. Good for you! Nice fishing....nice meals...nice scenery. Perfect! Thanks for sharing it.
A wildlife prof I had told us if we didn't want to eat the brookies we caught to just throw them in the bushes. Ha. He was a native cutthroat fanatic.
Wreck diver I love the difference between the B&W and the color. I don't do much in B&W but am always impressed with the texture/warmth differences. Very nice!
I have had LoJack on a few cars. The insurance savings basically paid for it. Fortunately never had to use it. GM's with OnStar do the same thing now (or actually better now as they can find the car, disable the vehicle from being started or if stolen and being driven they'll direct cops to...
Yeah I used to do a decent amount with an old SLR in the film days but haven't moved up to a DSLR yet. Just have to bite the bullet. But I do enjoy it. And it's a reason to get out there more! ;)
Such amazing pictures in this thread! Just overwhelming with all the natural beauty. Wow! Sadly my photography skills are SO lacking compared to you all. But you give me something to strive for!
I also really love how seeing the same place under different time, weather and circumstances can...
I will ditto the yukon/tahoe. I have 240k miles on mine and have towed a 24 foot trailer from east coast to AZ and back....done the alpine loop (w/o trailer ha) and off road through ME, VT, NH in comfort with 3 kids and a GSD. I love it and would buy another in a heartbeat if I continued to need...
Great build! Everything looks very well thought out. Guys like you with your fab skills constantly amaze me. Thanks for sharing it! The old Scouts are really great. They were the workhorses for an uncle of mine on his farm for years. Gotta love the old tractor iron! :)
I agree with underdrive....here's how I see it....just 4WD provides 2WD (in mucky stuff) as he said....a rear locker increases your traction/power by 50% (3 wheels driving instead of 2)....add the front locker and you've doubled your drive power (4 wheels over 2). Good luck.
Have any of you guys ever looked at the Ravelco "plug"? $500 for a car/truck. (No I am not affiliated with them in any way shape or form) but seems like it might be a decent deterrent for the whole vehicle getting taken.

I like the idea of the sign(s) and I am also of the...
I've been going through old threads as I find so much knowledge here! Wiring is one of my "blind spots" for sure and I found this thread so helpful for all the info in it. So I'm bumping it as I'm sure lots of other newer members like me can gain some new understanding of the risks of poor...
That looks really great- I like the receiver hitch and D-Rings and far less "heavy armor" than what is out there by a lot of companies. Nicely done!
:hehe: I've NEVER done that!
Said to my wife "yeah I know its a tree....but its a small tree.....it'll be fine" haha.
I don't know if you will need other cargo space on the roof given the bed of the truck but if you do or want a good place for mounting of lights etc a Kargo Master might make sense. Although I don't always like the overhang on the sides. But it would give you lots of options and will handle a...
