Finished my dual battery and secondary electronic system

I used tinned copper heavy walled lugs and yes, I used glue lined heat shrink over the seam between the EDPM rubber insulation and the terminal sealing the connection from water ingress and corrosion. All connections were made by cold welding using a 10 ton hydraulic crimping press, the outer...

Finished my dual battery and secondary electronic system

Meh, I have used this setup before in other rigs. Nothing failed due to weather, water ingress, etc. That compact unit looks nice. Its a braided sleeve.

Finished my dual battery and secondary electronic system

Next was fabbing up a new spot for the electronics. I used two factory tapped holes to mount the sides and I built a bracket to tie into the battery tray bolt. Figuring out space requirements... Fitting the bracket once I decided how much area I need to mount stuff. Mounting the components...

Finished my dual battery and secondary electronic system

I thought I would add to the collective community knowledge and post up my completed dual battery system with a secondary electronics system. I basically wanted everything that is factory to run off the factory Main battery and I wanted all the do-dads that I have added to run off the second...

OK, So No More Diehard Platinums, What To Get Now?

Optima has been my choice even through their "they've gone to crap" internet phase. I have never had an issue with any of them both pre and post move to Mexico. For the money they really perform. I like the Optima's, Deka's and Stingers (audio market). If you are just running one battery, fit...

Auxiliary Battery Box With Additional Space For Electrical Components

That looks great man. That is an impressive solution to a non existent problem ;) I do really like what you did, but I was good with quality tin coated copper terminals, glue lined heat shrink and hydraulically crimped, and marine rated electronic components (fuse panels, relays and breakers)...

    Dual Battery: not rocket science?

Yup, to the OP, the simpler solution will work just fine. Lots of boats use a simple battery switch to operate the "house" and "Main" battery isolation. It is easy peasy and cheap to do it this way. That said, I am flaky with most any detail and I would wake up to dead batteries half the time...

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

Well, I finally found the time to create, wire, and finish off my Dual Battery System with an entire auxiliary electrical system (breaker, fuse block, ground bus, relays and terminals). It wasn't too hard, but it took some time and planning. It came out nice and clean, and the Blue-Sea ML-ACR is...

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

It was a promo Toyota was doing a few years ago, I just signed up for a few badges and they arrived about a week later. I have no idea where they came from.

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

Thanks man, I am about to dump the 35's they are just too much hassle to get to work correctly. I do like the way they look but they gotta go.

Has anyone been able to play with ARB's new recovery boards yet?

I saw that ARB is releasing a new recovery/traction board. Has anyone got their hands on them yet? Does anyone have an insider track of what the street price will be and when they'll land Stateside?

Hi-lift / shovel box for roof rack

Nice job, at first I was like... "Wow, there is a solution to something that isn't a problem." but now I am impressed with how you have used the space. I think it is a great place to keep the stuff you want with you all the time without eating up all your interior space. I added a storage...

    Awning with side panels/nets

Yeah, ARB comes to mind. You will want to fit the 2500 series to your vehicle.

Propane tank... anyone added a permanently mounted tank underneath? General Questions

Several shops have now said there is no need for certification on permanent installations. My tank has no date stamped into it. I have had 3 shops confirm this as I didn't want to start buying parts only to have people reject me when I wanted to fill it up. YMMV but that is what I am hearing in...

Propane tank... anyone added a permanently mounted tank underneath? General Questions

Yes, I am going to use sheathed soft lines mounted to the frame and chassis. Should only be about 6" of "flexible" line at each end. Thanks!

Tips for cutting out door panels on a Sprinter Van > ?

Filling the majority of the space to be shaped with cardboard or chipboard, then span the final edges with 2" masking tape and tape the panel into place. A double layer of masking tape is good, three is better. Trim the size of the opening with an exacto knife or use a sharpie to get the "line."...

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

Thanks man, I have loved your threads in the past. Thanks for the kind words. It has been perfect, I get very little spill on the hood and even less on the dash, all while lighting up the trail. I only use it for slow trail work at night... so it doesn't come on too often but when it does it...
