6 speed will help for sure . right now on the freeway at 65to 70 mph the engine rpm is 2400, if i had 6+ speed trans it will go down to 1600. and 6.2 diesel has the best fuel economy at 1600 to 1900 rpm i know my problem is 2400 rpm, it has to come down. no intercooler its non turbo ERIC

using the corect #s my rover will be traveling 65 mph at 1561 rpm what i have now at 65 mph engine rpm is 2298 rpm thats gona be 750 rpm deferance . this if i use close ratio T56 if i use wide ratio the engine rpm at 65 mph will be 1780 witch is not bad also.
