First Camping Trip with Wife and Kid... Not so good...

Air mattresses just aren't that reliable. BTDT. Paco pads are pretty comfortable - but heavy & on the pricy side. There are several lower cost variants that are just as good, IMO. I don't recall the brand that we ended up with - Landing Pad Aire or something similar. Check the shops that...

    Day trip food storage

For day trips, we put the cold stuff (water, beer, etc) in ice at the bottom of a small cooler, fold up a towel to cover that, then just put the dry stuff (typically in zip lock bags or plastic containers) on top of the towel. The towel is thick enough when folded to provide plenty of...

    iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

The battery life does pretty much suck once you're a year or so in. Apple is replacing some batteries at no cost - but my phone doesn't qualify. Go figure.

    iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

I'm still not in love with the bigger screen trend. With the current screen size, I can barely reach the top/left corner with my thumb. Since the icons are all indexed off of that corner, I would lose one-handed operation of the touch screen.

    BFG KM2 problems

I had the identical problem, with the identical size. I lost 2 of them within 2 months of each other, both rears, running 70psi with the camper, 55 empty. I did have a couple hundred miles of slow rough roads @ ~45psi in there - but nothing crazy. Overall tread life isn't anything to write...

    are lockers necessary?

Do you *need* them? No. Do they come in handy sometimes? Absolutely. Are they worth the cost? All depends on you. I've had them, used them, gotten through places that would have been MUCH more difficult without them, enjoyed them, and don't regret - in any fashion - having them. But I...

One thing that really stands out to me is this sentence on the main page: "No warranty is implied or otherwise indicated."

    My cap : Aesthetics vs Practicality -- {W1T0UT}

Plenty of room between the wheel wells for a couple - as long as they aren't fighting. I'm not exactly skinny & have no trouble sleeping between the wheel wells of a full size with my g/f (she's much closer to "average" than I am). There wouldn't be much room for anything else though.

truck camper vs. small tow behind trailer

In your situation, I'd say go for the trailer. Loading / unloading a FWC is a bit of a pain about the 18th time you do it. The campers are also a bit cramped inside when you have two people moving around. If you do go that route (slide in), I'd suggest getting one that has the dinette at one...

Probably. I heard that they are going to start going after anyone that uses the word "bicycle", too.

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Every truck/camper combination will be different. The most reliable way to figure it out would be to call the manufacturer of the camper you're looking at & ask what the overall height (when closed) is, then add that to your bed height. Suspension compression when loaded will give you a bit...

which comes first the expedition or the vehicle?

Cold weather is tough with a pop up. Even with the liners you can put around the fabric (on the inside), it's still a big tent. As for space - yea, they're a bit cramped if you're stuck inside a lot. The best layout Ive seen (for my use) is the flat bed FWC models with the side door. Having...

    Issue after aev lift

Step 1 would be to turn all the way to the left & see if you're hitting the mechanical stops at the knuckle. That stop may or may not be adjustable on your vehicle. Step 2, if you aren't hitting the mechanical stop, would be to check for other interference that is stopping it. Don't overlook...

which comes first the expedition or the vehicle?

Define "cab access to the camper". 2nd generation dodge 3/4 ton w/cummins & sliding rear window = $8500 Older FWC w/sliding front window = $7500 Repurposed inner tube to act as a weather seal between them = free @ local junk yard Total = $16,000 Throw in $4,000 worth of tires & maintenance to...

    Power Management with Fridge

Check all the connections. When I installed the first fridge in my truck, I had similar problems. After a few weeks of off and on troubleshooting with the help of Paul @ Equipt & Martyn @ AT, I broke down & bought a doc watson meter, & ultimately found that the plug (hella style) felt solid...
