If you look at some of my videos - I don't add music and the cameras have an open mike. In some you will hear the noise of the wind and the vehicle which I don't consider noisy. I also don't have any extra noise barrier fitted in the cab and have no trouble having a normal conversation while...
Some fines on the magnetic plugs is fairly normal as long as no pieces are there. Yes syncros seem to be a little bit of a problem but hasn't hit me yet. The idea of keeping good oil and replacing every so often certainly won't hurt. Rear diff oil should be suited for LSD.
Tyres - Yes they...
It would only be a problem on hard surfaces and yes it would cause some binding in the transfer case making it hard to shift from 4WD to 2WD. I wouldn't care to say that is the reason to cause a front diff failure. In reality in a 4WD situation it is ideal to have more pull on the front wheels...
Back to the top with some new information that was handed to me by a worker at a business that I inquired about changing linings :- which they don't recommend. It seems that because they don't know the hardness of the original linings they won't supply anything different than standard. And these...
I'm there as well. Canters are very capable. What is shown there is only some of what we have done as a lot is not filmed just driven over.
In Qld. if it over 4.5 tonnes (metric ton) it is a commercial vehicle even if privately used and must have a yearly pit inspection.

Alan's Alloys. From mounting surface :-up 55mm is 350mm Dia. - up 120mm is 350 Dia so parallel. Slight step out in diameter then tapered to 390mm at bead at 210mm out from mounting surface.

As said 3/4" and 7/8" rated hard shackles. Yes a Canter bogged to the chassis is going to take some pulling out. The figure three times your loaded gross weight is near enough so the idea is to start your recovery before you bury it that far. Snatch Blocks rated high enough are a hard one to...
I'd wash it under the truck even if you used a pressure washer to blast from one end to the other. Then use a rag on a broom stick to dry as much water out that you can and wash down with some petrol to get rid of the rest of the moister. Job done on a nice warm day.
Dan.
It certainly has had some pieces go between the crown wheel and pinion. May be a pinion bearing has collapsed. Little use and a lot of sitting around is good for moister buildup and in the long run bearings don't like that. You would need to do some more exploring into that. If by chance you did...
Since I had to find this thread I will give a little update. My Canter now has done just under 40,000K's on the gears and all is going well.
What more can I say - I enjoy driving it and we use it as a run around instead of the Landcruiser.
Dan.
That is my look at it as well. Though I would hate to lose my Canter, it is a possession and I have an emotional attachment, losing it would hit my pocket. It is not the end of the world if everyone walks away. That is why I'm not afraid to use it where and how I do and drive it to get to unreal...
