Go exploring for weekends all the time and for a week a couple times a year. Other than tires and an Ursa Minor top. I don't much of any work on it at all. Prefer to be out in the desert than in the garage.

One thing I noticed right away. Unlike my hardtop. There is no heat transfer from the roof into the passenger compartment.

Random thought. Get limited slip axles and you may not need the recovery equipment.

I've had (all 4X4's) International Harvester, Power wagon, ford ranger, ford PSD, M43, Jeep 5/4 ton ambulance and 3 suburbans. My next truck will be a 2002ish Dodge diesel four door short bed 4X4. It'll tow the Tin Cabn, haul all the crap I want and be a camping rig.

The wife has a Grand Cherokee diesel Overland. It is a whole lot more luxurios than the Lincoln it replaced. So this is just a longer version of that.

Ordered one and it should be ready in early July.

Very interesting. While I like the four door for ease of entry/exit and practicality. I do like the look of the two door. So I can't see me wanting the two door. The only thing that matters is that if you like it enough to build it. You should. I really hope you do a build thread as you turn...

Grand Cherokee should be a better fit for you and your family. Go with the 6 cal. engine. Better power and they are bullet proof and last forever.
