Advice requested:$35K budget, what are you buying and why?

Lots of votes for Tundras...and I'll be one of the dissenters. Sequoia. They are NOT the same. Mechanically with the front end? Sure. But functionally? Not in the least. It's just my wife and I, our Malinois, and a Dutch Shepherd. With a truck, there's zero room for one kid and the dogs, let...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Interesting...and, sadly, not all that surprising. Though having combed through countless scientific studies related to both performance nutrition (I mean...fuel for the body, so related...ish), and strength/hypertrophy a lot of advice that still stands today is based on old studies that don't...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

And the chances of riding in the bed increased in relation to the number of times "Are we there yet?" came out of your mouth.

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

We've already established the confusion I had re: 4HI...and that it's really 4A (which is also not proper AWD) despite having a transfer case in some vehicles with a separate center locker. My RAM has a traditional transfer case, and no it doesn't get run on dry pavement. Poor horse, it just...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

My ‘05 had an e-locker center diff, so 4Hi was technically 4A as it was an open diff when unlocked, no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

I think it depends on the 4WD system, no? My first-gen Sequoia had a separate center diff lock with 2WD, 4Hi, and 4Lo. I didn't make it a habit to use 4WD on totally dry roads, but never experienced any binding/etc. on the short stints where I did when cruising along mixed surfaces with drive...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

What tacollie said. 85 octane at altitude is like 87 in the lowlands. In oversimplified terms, less oxygen = need for fuel that ignites easier. 93 octane here = 91 out there, typically. And it's running lockers that you don't want to do on dry pavement...4Hi is fine. Otherwise you couldn't have...

Tapping the Gas Tank on a RAM HD

My only concern with this is whether you may experience problems at the pump. Running a line down the filler neck may cause enough of a restriction that a gas pump senses back pressure and shuts off at full flow. I have that issue with my RAM...have since new and it's not an uncommon issue. I...

About to pull the trigger on an Xpedition voyager, any real competition I’m missing?

Also...check out Arkto's G12 out of Edmonton up in Canada. That's the direction we went after looking at both the TetonX and EOS, and 1/2-2/3 the cost of the EOS depending on how you kit it out. You can find a couple threads on them here if you haven't already. It's where I first heard of them...

About to pull the trigger on an Xpedition voyager, any real competition I’m missing?

Given OP is driving a regeared 5th gen 4R...the EOS12 is a full 1,000 pounds heavier than the Voyager. No way I'd tow a 5,200-lb GVW trailer and a family of 5 in that.

Any Tips, Tricks or Cautions for Vertically Mounting ROAM/Pelican/etc. Cases?

I have an Expedition One, dual-swingout bumper on the back of our Power Wagon. In an effort to relocate stuff like recovery gear out of the camper and free up space for other stuff, I'm thinking of mounting a large case (test fitting stuff in a buddy's ROAM 165L) to one of the swingouts...

    pricing help

My general practice when selling. Determine KBB for the vehicle. Don't factor in labor costs for parts...that's too localized in nature, and someone that's more/less-skilled will pay less/more. As far as add-ons...they're only worth it to someone that would have the same desires. Realistically...

PRICE LOWERED F450 w/ 11ft flatbed hardside camper. Unicorn dry bath low milage

GLWS. Honestly...while not our cup of tea for the dirt-focused travel we do, this would be absolutely perfect if/when we end up buying a swath of land vs. something with a house on it in the next year or two. Precisely what it was built for, apparently! You're selling it a year or two too early...

Experienced opinions and concerns on pop ups and canopy campers

You should, absolutely, be able to get an Arctic Tern in a side hatch (really wish I'd have thought about that). We have an AT on one side and a windowless hatch on the other. It's really impressive how many new options Jay, Maggie, and Co. have come up with since we got ours. As far as a loss...

Experienced opinions and concerns on pop ups and canopy campers

Honestly with the updates that Tune is doing...ugh...would've been a major contender against our OVRLND, but OVRLND won fair and square as they were the only option offering full barn doors at the time (almost two years ago). I love that the Tune doesn't involve any convoluted stowing of the...

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

Agreed. Honestly it's not that hard to pick up the phone and find a dealership that WON'T mark things up. It shocks me, though, how many people just up and pay some ridiculous ADM. Ultimately they're the ones to blame for these practices continuing. I had a coworker guilt of paying ADM on...a...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

    A) Full-size B) Not an Alu-Cab (assuming you mean something like their full shell...and not that you're going to be removing it like you are on the Bronco). C) I'll second? third? considering a trailer; particularly as this will be your daily. A) The comforts, capabilities, and payload of a...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

We’ve been in 12-degrees (disgustingly humid East Coast 12-degrees) and comfortable with it set at 63. We’re insulated with 1” isopro and plywood over that. We also have the thermal pack and 1” isopro on the ceiling. BedRug and 3/4” ply on the floor. At those temps it’s running constantly to...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

I had an installer do it. Way outside of my comfort range and something it really helps to have a lift for [emoji6] I found a Webasto supplier that was really popular on the RAM Promaster forums. Granted, there’s a big difference between RAM HD trucks and the vans, but the owner was fantastic...

2024 Land Cruiser in the USA?

I'd even caveat the range/mpgs being better. Stick a 3-4k lb trailer behind the LC and it's going to take a massive hit compared to the GX. I'd guess it'll either be on par at that point or WORSE than the GX's. And...Koons Toyota in Easton, MD is already starting with the ridiculousness. I...
