I'm not sure what the CA requirements are.
It has a headlight, brake lights, rear view mirror.
It does not have a horn, turn signals, or tail light (although one of the LED brake lights could be turned into a tail light by moving the hot lead over to the headlight circuit).
In southern AZ, we...
I'm not sure if it's legal in CA or not. It has current AZ tags. There is no physical inspection or emissions test for motorcycles here. It has a head light & brake light (no tail light - but one of the LED brake lights could be converted to a tail light by moving a single wire), has a rear...
There shouldn't be any tension or pressure on a leaf spring when it's installed & you haven't loaded it - there is no 'built in' or 'forced bow' to them (other than the arch).
When I built my trailer, I welded the spring hangers to the frame while it was upside down, but flipped it right side...
ha! That's a nice way to put it!
Which lift & sliders did you get? We put the 2.5" RR lift on Marisa's Patriot last year, & aside from the alignment issues (no one wants to listen when I tell them how to adjust the camber on the rear end . . .), we're very happy with it. It gives us just...
I've got the same problem - all of the weight is on the rear suspension. Air bags will help, but the shocks will never be able to keep up (and if you buy a set that will - they will be brutal when you don't have the camper on).
It's the price we pay for that extra 18" of space inside.
Interesting - If I'm in the 'Avid' category, I must be an [ab]normal rider. I'm just breaking into 100 hours/year (well below the 'enthusiast' category) if you assume that my typical 'after work' ride (7.5 miles / 45 minutes) is a safe measure of my average speed (10mph).
Got any numbers that are split up between mountain & road bikes?
It would be interesting to see the distance/frequency of the mountain bikes vs road bikes.
Well, that and I'm curious to see where I fall in the larger picture, with my 2 or 3 rides per week @ a typical 8 - 10 miles (45 minutes)...
I certainly don't have any market data to back up my gut feeling - only what I see and hear from other riders I meet on the trail. My guess is that those market statistics are skewed. It would be interesting to see the breakdown between mountain bikes and road bikes. 1800 miles per year is 35...
To further that thought - lets not forget that a $1,300 off-the-shelf bike will out perform almost every rider out there. It's not like many of us are out there racing or casually putting down 2,500 mile years. Honestly, look at the level/intensity/frequency that most of us ride at - it's a...
It's a good way to approach it if you are unsure.
This was my first pop up camper (had hard sides growing up & a couple times in my early adult life), so we held back a little when we rebuilt it. I put enough money into it that I was 95% sure I'd be happy with it (not cutting too many...
One word of caution with the first print run of the revised Baja Almanac (not sure if they have had a second run or not) - the GPS grid (coordinates printed in the margins of the paper maps) are not always accurate. A couple of the pages literally have the wrong numbers printed on them - so...
It's worth the drive up to Montevideo (petroglyphs) - ~10 miles east of BoLA, and then on up a bit further to San Borja (mission). If you hit it on the way out, you can take the dirt 2-track all the way back out to Nuevo Rosarito (?), which is a fantastic drive. If you're going east to west...
For crash bars / skid plates / bark busters / etc - I'm a big fan of Adventure Spec. Great products, great service, fast shipping (3 days from the UK to my doorstep in AZ).
For hard bags, it's hard to beat Jessie Luggage. For soft bags, Wolfman or Giant Loop is where its at.
Warn makes some...
