I'm curious - does the PLB40 have a watt meter that shows input and output wattage? I'm curious how well it charges on the 12v "cigarette lighter" input. One downside of the Suaoki I've noticed is that using the 12v ciggie plug only supplies about 30 watts of input power, whereas if I plug the...
Indeed, DT connectors are very nice for inline connections or a bulkhead mount where you don't mind the connection standing straight up in the air (which is the deal killer for me).
Here's some crimpers on Amazon:

well, I just measured and the Zamp unit won't fit under my crossbars (which would mean it might interfere with things mounted on them). Looks like I'm going with the raised profile unit you pictured. Which one is that? Its tough to find one in 14 AWG, which is what I'm building everything...
As I've posted in another thread, I'm running the Dometic fridge in my 4-door Jeep powered by a Suaoki G500 lithium power supply (500WH unit for $389 on Amazon). I have a 100w HQST panel mounted to a Rhino Vortex rack using some L-brackets that I fabricated.
Components of my setup: (not...
While that looks very impressive, it probably does not look "simple" to the OP. :)
This is exactly what I'm doing. The Suaoki G500 can be had for $389 on Amazon. Add a 100w panel from HQST for $80 and some wiring and you have a complete stand-alone system to power your fridge and charge...
Thanks everyone. I think I'm probably going to go with something like this for the top mount (assuming it will clear underneath the panel):

The advantage of this direction is that I can make the install very clean on the inside of the roof (without...
Here's a video of it in operation. Things are a bit of a mess, as I was unpacking from the trip. Sorry for the lousy video - I was holding the phone in one hand and fumbling around with the left hand trying to do it. ;-)
And a photo with everything out of the way:
Agree, but if you lift you have to start thinking about backspacing and OEM wheels won’t work without spacers. Then the question becomes “are OEM wheels+spacers better than aftermarket...?”

I used a combination of double sided carpet seam tape and 3M spray adhesive. Messy, but it seemed to work well so far. Tough to do without getting some voids/bubbles, but it stays tacky long enough that I could pull it up and redo if necessarily

Last day of the trip (Tierra del Sol expo) and even doing some moderate “rock crawling” and lots of Jeep trails with the cooler packed full it worked beautifully. We had very windy/sandy conditions at times and I can definitely feel some grit in the slide now. Not sure if anyone offers a...
Day 7 of continuous use with the Dometic CFX50 and the Suaoki - the last two of which have been in the desert in an actual camping scenario. I am finding it VERY easy to keep the battery at nearly 100% all day every day despite running a packed fridge at 36º and 80º ambient temps. In...
Update: I went with the DFG Offroad unit. Based on everything I've seen it is the "best" unit for the criteria I outlined. It is very lightweight (all aluminum & stainless steel slides), uses a proprietary locking mechanism for closed and open positions (different) that work well but are not...
Sounds like a great setup - very flexible and modular. I suppose based on previous comments the only thing the purists will say "stupid" about is the SAE connector on the roof and the use of regular AC extension cords for carrying DC current. But copper is copper, right? :D . I have a...
I just dumped a couple thou into fridge, battery, and solar panel along with my deck project. Time to let the wallet cool off a bit, then it will be time for the Batwing.
Just saw the news in my email inbox. This is awesome news! I was just getting ready to hold my nose and buy an Android tablet just for running Gaia. No longer necessary, especially since Apply finally updated Carplay to allow for different apps to run on the Carplay screen and the mobile device.
