Project Fauxverlander 200 Series Land Cruiser Build Thread

My drawers are about 2.5 years old. I don't want to derail your build thread on this subject - just something I've been dealing with and wondered what you saw.

Fire Pan for Restricted Areas. What do you use?

I have a Snowpeak fire pit that breaks down flat.

Project Fauxverlander 200 Series Land Cruiser Build Thread

6 of 8 of the fails have been on the RDRF side. When I call ARB they're like "Yeah Yeah" and send me replacements no questions asked. But it's really a terrible design... I just wondered if you had come across something improved in your travels. There is a guy out here in California who makes...

    iPad Pro vs other iPads

I use iPad pro for travel (replacing my MacBook Air). In vehicle mapping my current iteration is iPad mini. I've been using iPad in vehicle since 2010 and have not found a better solution.

Project Fauxverlander 200 Series Land Cruiser Build Thread

Kurt how do you deal with the constant failing drawer stop locks in the outback drawer system. I've needed 8 replacements in 2 years... I've got another broken one now. For those not familiar these devices "lock" the outback drawers in the open position - they are constructed out of state of...

Black Friday special: 15% OFF any purchase!

That's awesome news.... I did send an email to Sales on 10/8 regarding a rack system for my 100 series - no response. Is this a normal? I resent it just now for good measure :-)

Yeah the intermod on two out of three of mine was pretty bad. they all died from speaker or mic issues ultimately.

    $40 BaoFeng UV-5R Dual-Band Handhelds

I've had 3 UV5R's - all have failed within months. I'm afraid I'm staying with Yaesu and ICOM. I'm glad you guys are having decent luck.

    WTB RTT in Northern Ca.

Tepui is in Santa Cruz - seems to me they have something at 1500 that might fit the bill. Cash is always good for a discount :)

    TrekboxX Drawer System Group Buy!!!

You can use an ARB or other fridge slide on the Bravo. But I'm sure we can all understand the desire for the Alpha type system.

    TrekboxX Drawer System Group Buy!!!

I would suspect that the two drawer Bravo (LC100) system might be adaptable to an FJ55... The mounting would be different. That system is 12" high x 42 1/2" wide x 39" deep (base). I'm pretty sure David wouldn't start a run of FJ55 Production systems :)

TrekboxX drawer system for JK idea thread

Almost makes me want a Jeep... almost :-) For those that have not seen David's work in person it's quite a treat. His attention to detail AND function set a high bar. His consideration for end users day to day and lifetime use always amazes me. The fact he considers the tiniest details, 1/8"...

Motion X GPS HD v21 released

Not having a "Wireless Plan" doesn't mean it's a WiFi only device. Wireless plans are not needed for the device in regards to GPS use, its hardware. I've updated the iPad Nav FAQ - look at the bottom of that post for a list of iPad devices that are GPS enabled and don't require an external GPS...

I've been trying to figure out how to lift my M4 so I can ditch this pesky Land Cruiser

    MotionX GPS Questions

10-15 Zoom is the best for managing memory. 15 is roughly equivalent to 1:24,000. Any higher levels download result in not much more useful detail and huge increase in memory usage not to mention download time.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Geez why the hate people? If Mike wants to put this thing in a crusher it's his to do. Fortunately for us we get to see yet another, what promises to be, innovative build. I applaud Mikes endless supply of enthusiasm (and cash) to entertain us. Carry on.

    What about BOB?

Oh I'm perfectly comfortable with the costs of the bag I have and the gear thats in it. But I'd love to hear some real detail about what other Expo members are using in these less expensive setups. My impression is that many have not done an actual cost analysis. You can shave $1500 out of my...

    What about BOB?

@ivan Seems to work for me. The initial impetus was a scenario of "get help" but evolved to a general survival pack to cover a variety of contingencies. I live in earthquake country. I was (luckily) on the south end of the collapsing freeway in 1989 in Oakland during the Loma Prieta quake and...
