Figured I'd update this thread. The week before I went to Big Bend, the family and I loaded both this truck and my white truck up with every toy we could bring to do some more camping, and fishing for 6 days, 5 nights. We played games, did some biking, fishing, and we did some local exploring...

Glad you got it worked out. That shaking or wobbling from bad tires honestly can completely ruin a driving experience.

Definitely do! I had one of my Toyos that didn't feel right. Was almost 50. They tried everything, but eventually ordered a new one which ballanced perfect like the others.

We just got back from the Big Bend area. Was a great little trip. Wish I would have brought my DSLR for the night sky's out there, which were amazing. But here are a few from the trip.

I think it's just a personal opinion. I always want simple and reliable I guess. I'd want non turbo, I'd yank the glow plugs for a simple grid heater. Etc. But as I said above, ultimately if I was there I'd use a gasser. Lol

I wouldn't take a late 7.3 anywhere out of the US. An early 6.9 or 7.3 IDI however would be a different story. Not much on those you couldn't rig or make function to get you somewhere. The late 7.3 and everything it comes with wouldn't even cross my mind.

Personally if I was driving specifically to South America, I'd just buy a pre emissions gas vehicle of any kind and run with it. Otherwise any 6.9-7.3 IDI or 5.9 Cummins would be fine. Both of those International and Cummins engines are mechanical, simple, and have a pretty good industrial presence.

How are you doing post hurricane?

It's really not that bad. Wiping it down and sanding what you want smooth really doesn't take long, and if you don't care about the finish as much you can skip the sanding, just clean, convert, then top coat.
