In many industries a deposit is required for "custom" work to cover materials as that "custom" item might not be sellable if the buyer backs out.
HOWEVER it should never be that a builder needs the deposit to keep the lights on and finish previous orders.....
Thank goodness for the web and...
Great thread and I really wonder if I should not have gotten the ZR2 instead of my Tacoma? Oh well always nice to have an excuse to change rides down the road.
Keep the great pics and exploration coming.
I just got this one as part of my solar setup and love the bluetooth and history for watching things over time.

Very cool item and I am super bummed I didn't grab one at Overland Expo West. Bad move on my part when I know these folks and can trust pretty much whatever they build.
Thanks for the video Tim.
I have been subscribing to the mag for years and each comes with a full DVD....covers adventure trip, reader build, cooking segment and more....great vids to take camping and use a projector and bedsheet.
Very cool, I live in Phx and was planning on driving up there early next month to figure out the panels for my new Snap Treehouse camper. Weight has been a concern so these will be nice to check out.
I have loved my stainless steel camp table for years now and it has survived on the roof of my 1970 Suburban without hassle.
Now that I am selling that rig and building a new camper setup my first thought was measuring and ordering a new table for under the camper/cab overhang.
I really hope I...
So this is NOT my trip, but it is an amazing read and well worth the time...
There is a website archive.org free to join and worth the effort
Search "Off the Beaten Track in Baja"
This 1967 book has Land Rovers, Ford's Chevy's and custom bikes & trikes traveling with air support all over Baja...
So we have the system laid out as
2 6v Golf Cart batteries
Blue Sea A-MCR
Victron 75/15
and now to pick solar panels...
I am concerned about my GVWR with my new 2017 Tacoma DCLB and between the 400lb camper, fridge, 150lbs of batteries, camp gear and such...I want the lightest solar panels...
I have a wiring question....
The Victron shows a connection for the panel, for the battery, and for load....so instead if connecting my fridge and anything else to the battery I should connect them all to the Victron in a bus bar or something?
And in this manner if the Victron has a full battery...
So 2 6v Golf Cart batteries will give me 235AH for 136 lbs of battery wgt.
The Blue Sea M-ACR and Victron 75/15 will give me the ability to have the factory alt charge things and the solar keep things topped off if I understand correctly.
At least with extra power I can add the cellular booster...
According to an older Overland Journal article I found the NL 50L Twin uses 45amps/24 hours, that means if I use the National Luna Power Pack I already own with a Duracell FLA Deep Cycle which is 105 AH, then I am good for overnight as long as I get sun during the day on the solar, or drive/run...
Thanks again John and others for great info...
I do like this Victron controler
https://www.victronenergy.com/solar-charge-controllers/mppt7510#pd-nav-image
However unlike the CTEK 250SA the Victron only deals with solar, what is recommended to bring power from the factory Toyota alt/battery?
I know the Snap Treehouse is built with L track mounting rails on the roof so I can build a mount that is removable for when I want to park in shade and put the panels in the sun.
So I am thinking of 2 or 3 panels that are 100watts and a quick disconnect bulkhead fitting through the camper roof
Thanks John,
Batteries plus has the Duracell Flooded Lead Acid in 6v, and the 230-250AH ranges would give me plenty of power for around under $300.
Now what brand/model of solar is everyone loving? Our problem out here is heat, the air temp is 115 and the panel must get crazy hot also. In...
Ok recently there have been some great threads here on solar, battery banks and such....and thus I am more confused than ever :)
Here is my setup
I am in Phoenix Arizona so lots and lots of sunny days, and we mainly play in the southwest so plenty of sun
2017 Tacoma which will get a group 31...
That is the same style lifting floor the Treehouse has but bigger side doors on both sides and cheaper.
Now I just need it to be built so I can report back to the massess
So please don't get crazy angry at my comments....please
I work as an ICU RN and the majority of people who need a CPAP machine are overweight. Not saying you are and there are skinny people who have a very relaxed airway and need CPAP, however if you can honestly say you need to lose a few...
