Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

That's good to know, thanks Herbie. McMaster-Carr is so convenient as I get stuff from them next day without driving anywhere, but I'll take a closer look at other options next time I need some plastic for a project. Unfortunately most industrial supply places are nearly an hour roundrip from...

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

I probably should have sought clarification before I worked on this, but can you tell me more specifically what has worked for you? Honestly on this project it's not something I want to spend a ton of time with (it's a spacer for an awning bracket) but if I work with this stuff in the future it...

    Wind resistant wide brim hats

I recommended the Costco Solar Escape hat earlier and just wanted to follow up regarding the wind resistance. I rode my bike to a park the other day while wearing this hat. I know I hit 20 MPH going down some hills (it's a beach cruiser, not a road bike) and there was a headwind in some cases...

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

Great question. Square would have been too tall for my application, and to be honest I didn't really realize there were many options in rectangular tubing, as I have not done much metal working and I have better wood (or plastic) cutting tools at my disposal. I just looked on McMaster and...

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

I found the Delrin to be easy to work with, and it seems like it should be plenty strong for this application. Will try these out on our next trip coming up soon. Thanks again for the material suggestions.

    Wind resistant wide brim hats

My wife has picked up a couple of these at Costco. I like them a lot, wear them backpacking and hiking. They are well ventilated but still offer quite a lot of sun protection. They are one size with a cord to adjust tighter but I guess I'm lucky in that they fit me perfectly without...

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

I decided to go with delrin since it sounds like it'll be easier to work with than UHMW, and it was about the same price as the nylon. I'll update this after it's finished, thanks again for the suggestions guys.

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

Thanks Airmapper. I agree that in this application I don't think it's being put under a lot of stress. It's just there to raise the bracket up about 3/4", and I think it mainly needs to resist being compressed. Looks like UHMW you mentioned might be a better choice than the nylon material I...

Seeking advice on material choice for awning bracket spacer

Hey, I'm hoping someone here has some suggestions for a small project I need to wrap up. We have an Xterra with a DIY roof rack consisting of low profile unistrut crossbars attached with vibration damping ubolts. It's great for attaching cargo boxes, gas cans, traction boards, etc. Recently...

Getting started with a CB setup

I rarely use CB and wanted something that I didn't have to install, so I got a Midland 75-822: https://www.amazon.com/Midland-75-822-Channel-CB-Way-Radio/dp/B00000K2YR An external magnetic mount roof antenna will improve the range and clarity a lot. I would rate it OK as is and very good with...

    Camp stereo

Usually we enjoy the quiet when camping and find any non-nature noise intrusive and unwelcome. On the other hand when camped in out of the way places miles from anyone else that might not share our taste in music, I have used one of those brick shaped bluetooth speakers. Not the best audio...

Cleanwaste Go Anywhere vs Reliance Fold To Go or any other suggestions

I don't have a photo of it but imagine four pins screwed on the underside of your standard basic toilet seat that keep it in place on the bucket. The pins are about 1/2" diameter and I just used a small piece of plastic cylinder with wood screws to make them. Simple and cheap. As comfortable...

Cleanwaste Go Anywhere vs Reliance Fold To Go or any other suggestions

We use the clean waste wag bags but instead of a folding toilet we use an actual toilet seat that fits on top of a plastic kitty litter bucket. Bungee cord around the bucket holds the wag bag in place, and the bucket can be used for more than one purpose.

Ah OK thanks. Mine was definitely around that center part.

2 Gallon Rotopax failure, leaking - UPDATE - received replacement

That sucks. Do you know what the manufacture date is? Is it leaking from the same area that mine was? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jb_vUpjbfk They were quite responsive when I used FB and I had a replacement in hand within two days. I am being very diligent in venting it to avoid...

Add waypoint to Gaia via gaiagps.com from lat / lon coordinates?

Just discovered that I can change the settings on my phone app to degrees and decimal minutes, and that allows me to enter them directly using that format without any conversion. It's nice to have some options. Thanks again for the replies.

Add waypoint to Gaia via gaiagps.com from lat / lon coordinates?

Thanks guys, the GPX file is working well. The only time consuming part is the manual conversion of the coordinates, but there's no way around it and other than that it's really quick and easy.

Add waypoint to Gaia via gaiagps.com from lat / lon coordinates?

That's pretty cool, will have to play around with that method, thanks! I will still have to convert formats but it's a lot easier on the desktop than typing on my phone.

Add waypoint to Gaia via gaiagps.com from lat / lon coordinates?

Right. And I can add waypoints using lat / lon coordinates via the phone. But when I use the website: Create > Create Waypoints I get, "Click the map to add waypoints". There's no way that I can see (though I'm new to this) to add via lat / lon coordinates. Adding them via the desktop would...

Add waypoint to Gaia via gaiagps.com from lat / lon coordinates?

I recently bought the Gaia app for my iphone and so far it has been pretty useful. I am trying to figure out how to add some waypoints via gaiagps.com on my desktop browser, rather than through the phone. I have a list of lat / lon coordinates in a guidebook, they are not in any digital...
