Any new info on tred pros

I've never seen anyone do testing on them to confirm they'd break if flexed like this, but the Tred Pros I have do stack / nest together well.

Recommended lightweight, highly packable, "warm weather" sleeping bags?

That looks cool, but all that verbiage on their page and not a single mention that I can find of the dimensions. Outdoor Vitals, it's great that you're, "pushing the boundaries of quality, price and innovation via our direct-to-consumer business model and amazing company culture", but how long...

Any new info on tred pros

Can you elaborate on this with more info? How were they used, what type of vehicle, where did they crack, etc.? Are you pursuing a warranty claim? I'm curious because I have a set of these bought through Kickstarter last year, but haven't had occasion to use them yet. Thanks.

Ultimate outdoor cooking gear (not built in, but portable for a 20# tank)

It's not "the ultimate" but we are very happy with the following combo. It's fairly lightweight, compact and inexpensive. Blackstone Dash grill / griddle (picked one up for 1/2 price at ********'s last year) Single burner propane stove The Blackstone is a legit grill and griddle. We have...

Recommended lightweight, highly packable, "warm weather" sleeping bags?

Looks nice, but quite pricey is right, wow.

Recommended lightweight, highly packable, "warm weather" sleeping bags?

Does your current bag zip open all the way? I would use either a lightweight bag with a full zipper so you can use it as a quilt, or just use a quilt. We have a couple of these and they are pretty warm for their tiny size and weight... pretty short though...

    2x20 Smittybilt tow strap $9.99

Wondering if anyone else here bought one of these back in November. Mine just came in for in store pickup, two months later!

Sell My 02 WRX For an Xterra? Why Are Xterras Cheaper Than Frontiers?

I don't know a lot about the Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Xterra comparison, as I have only owned a Gen 2. I can tell you they are quite a bit larger, the engines and transmissions are considered pretty tough but do have the transmission cooler weakness (easily fixed) that you mentioned. Some Gen 2's get...

    Best sleeping pad

I paid about $60 for my Camp Bed in XL, a little more for my wife's in L, from the garage sale and outlet respectively. Well worth it. Yes these are self inflating = no inflator or blowing required. They're just really heavy and bulky for backpacking use. The Therma Rest Neo Air that I...

    Best sleeping pad

Thanks, didn't realize it was posted previously! I got my wife a Neo Air for Christmas so I'm now double motivated to try this out. I love the Neo Air for three season use when backpacking. When weight and size are of no concern, we have these (regular for her and XL for me) and they are so...

    Best sleeping pad

Very clever, thanks for posting. I have a Neo Air and it's great, but filling it does leave you a bit lightheaded when camping at elevation. Plus, I don't like the idea of putting so much moisture into it, so this would avoid that problem. In the video he shows a roll of tape, but it isn't...

    Subaru Outback roof rack options

I have a 3rd Gen OB, but am considering a purchase of 5th Gen in the future. I normally have a couple of Yakima Frontloaders on my Yakima crossbars and they are very solid. This whole new gen roof rack thing is pretty annoying, sounds like the folding crossbars are flimsy. Digging around on...

    Going out Solo, Recovery options.

Some good advice here: http://expeditionportal.com/going-alone-single-vehicle-offroad-travel-safety/ Have not had to use our traction boards yet but we do carry them, and probably employ a bit more caution when traveling solo.

    Battery Jumper cable recommendations?

I carry both a set of jumper cables and a small lithium jump battery that I charge before a trip. Nice to have both options. As for welding, I don't know the first thing about it, but I got to see a Readywelder in action recently. Very cool and a valuable tool... saved the day for a Jeep with...

Let's Not Panic: driving from San Francisco to Patagonia and definitely not panicking

That's some nasty mud! Looks like you guys did the best that you could with what you had available. Airing the tires down further may have helped (30 PSI is barely above street pressure) and I'm guessing some Maxtrax or other traction boards would have been helpful too. I'm curious about...

    Outdooraholic's Montero Sport Adventure/Build thread

Enjoyed reading about your NMBDR trip. I don't know if you already purchased tires, but if you're looking at tire weights and other attributes, this spreadsheet might be helpful to you. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hYgUsMXl9xdSpU8c5nwW1CFB8axXrZf6PVyw2wi8nEY I put this together...

Tom's 2011 Xterra Pro-4X: general utility and midwest adventure

Tom, welcome from another Xterra / Subaru owner. Looks great! We use our backpacking and ground tents, will never convince the wife to crawl up into a RTT I think. We have also slept inside the Xterra, it works pretty well for two as long as you have a place to move the gear to. The unistrut...

Mickey Thompson or Cooper A/T tire decisions

Another vote for the Cooper A/TW. I don't have them but their A/T3 brother has been great for me, and the A/TW is like the AT3 plus better snow and ice performance.

More positive press for the Frontier

It's more like 3:1 if this site is accurate, but it sure feels like I see 5 Tacomas for every Frontier as well: http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2011/01/toyota-tacoma-sales-figures.html http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2011/01/nissan-frontier-sales-figures.html

Why don't i see any Thule or Yakima boxes on Overland rigs?

Thule Sidekick has been great for adding a bit of weather protected space for the lighter weight, bulky items. We needed a short box so we could still access the built in cargo bin on the roof. Can't say I'd describe our vehicle as "overlanding rig" though. It's for camping trips :) I like...
