    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

Thanks for the offer on the photos, I appreciate it! Yeah, it would be easy to spend lots of dollars on that group buy. The bumpers are tempting but for now I'm sticking with just the sliders. I don't have the tools or skills to do something like that but even if I did I can't imagine it...

    A tale of 2 Xterra's

IMO buying a 2-4 year old vehicle with 30-40K miles is a good way to go. The biggest depreciation hit has already happened, major services have not been neglected (because they weren't even due yet) and if it's been taken care of it almost feels like brand new. Another vote for Option 1 or...

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

Nice Xterra! I just did the bypass myself and your photos will be helpful if/when I add a transmission cooler. Are you still looking for sliders? There's a group buy on thenewx for sliders (and a bunch of other stuff) from Insain Fab. I think you're a member there, so you should be able to...

    Josh's 2014 Xterra Pro 4x - guided by necessity

Great photos! I love Arizona. Are you still looking for sliders? There's a couple of group buys starting on thenewx. I'm considering getting in on this one: http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135481

Silnylon vehicle awning ideas for a lightweight compact flexible design

Very cool, thanks for posting the photos and descriptions. We are probably going to just make a trapezoidal one and call it good. Mainly looking for a little shade on the side of the truck, and sometimes in the desert we don't have many (or any) trees or soft ground available. Looking forward...

My New 05 Nissan Xterra Off Road

Welcome from another newb! Just got my '06 late last year. I would highly recommend thenewx.org, super helpful over there and tons of writeups from people who have been there, done that. Here's a good place to start: http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82441 "SMOD" is not an issue...

    outback97's 2006 Xterra

Thanks Steve, from another Steve! Regarding the mudflaps, the previous owner installed some actual mudflaps (that is flexible ones) to the backside of the factory ones which it looks like he sawzalled off, probably after breaking them like everyone else does. Kinda hard to see in this pic but...

    outback97's 2006 Xterra

Thanks, I have heard that works and seen some youtube videos. Might try it but I'm afraid of messing up the paint. My only previous use of a heatgun was to strip paint! Thank you! We're accustomed to it being just my wife and I on our desert adventures; we like getting away from crowds...

    outback97's 2006 Xterra

Thanks! Got a decent deal on it and it had pretty much what we were looking for. There are some faded plastics from the Utah sun but looks to be mechanically sound where it matters. Needs some better tires on it though, that will probably be the first major thing to get upgraded. My wife's...

Silnylon vehicle awning ideas for a lightweight compact flexible design

Any new developments? Some cool ideas in this thread. I am planning something similar although it will be a bit smaller in scale. For poles I will probably use the 6'6" awning poles from Kirkham's as they are local to me: http://www.kirkhams.com/canopy-misc.-poles/springbar-66-awning-pole/ I...

    outback97's 2006 Xterra

Hey all, I recently acquired a 2006 Xterra and am looking forward to using it for some camping and exploring adventures. My wife and I have had Subaru wagons for many years (still do) and wanted something with a bit more rough road ability. I also like the idea of being able to sleep inside...
